Welcome everyone to my latest trip report! Thank you all for joining along in the fun!

This trip was a shorter one for us, I flew down on Tuesday June 3rd, and my mom came to join me on June 4th. We both headed home on Sunday June 8th.

This was also a split stay, at least for me. That first night I was there by myself I stayed at Coronado Springs Resort in a tower club level room. Then I moved over to the Wilderness Lodge to meet my mom where we were also staying club level. We made a goal to check out every club level on Disney property, so have slowly been making our way through the list!

Now, as you may have guessed from the title of this TR, this trip was to celebrate my birthday at Disney! Being at Disney was definitely a birthday wish, but that is not the wish the title of this TR is referring to. Some of you may be thinking that this wish was to finally get Disco on Guardians since it’s been years, probably well over 50 rides, yet Disco keeps evading me, but nope, that wasn’t the wish either, BUT this wish does involve Guardians! Now I’m going to be mean and leave you hanging about this wish, but we’ll get that soon!

Being a trip to celebrate me (the best kind of trips in my opinion) we added some fun extra events such as Celebration at the Top, Hoop Dee Doo, and a big birthday dinner at Capa. We’ll get into the details on those later, but I will say now that we LOVED them all!

Now for introductions, as noted earlier, this trip was just me and my mom! Here is my mom, Carol.

She is a great travel buddy, we generally love the same things, and of course both love Disney. We do have different schedules, she’s an early riser and I’m more of a night owl, but since Disney kind of makes you be both, this works for us!

Next up is me! I’m Debbie and I’ll be your narrator extraordinaire for this trip report!

I’ve been lucky to have been going to Disney since I was a little kid, although I didn’t really fall in love with it until my pre-teen/teen years when I really got into the hidden details and appreciating the theming more. I totally credit Disney for becoming an engineer!

Alright, I think that's enough of introductions. I hope you all enjoy this trip report, now on with the show!

Happy Birthday! Can't wait to hear about your trip and see how mom did with her boot!
Thank you! She ended up only wearing the boot part of each day. Her doctor gave her the ok to not wear it all the time, so she decided to try to go without it as long as she could each day. It went ok, some days better than others!

Day 1, Part 1: Disney Here I Come!

(sorry for the lack of pictures, there will be plenty after this post!)

It was finally here, travel day!!! :cool1:

Similar to most trips, I slept horribly the night before, even though my flight was late morning so I could have slept in. I think it’s a mix of excitement and nerves. Whatever it is, I barely slept 3 hours, so I was dragging this morning.

I made lots of coffee and some breakfast, and spent some time checking emails and playing with my cats.

Around 8:40 I called for an Uber and it arrived about 4 minute later. The trip to the airport was short as always, about 8 minutes.

Once there I quickly got my bag tag then waiting in the short line to weigh the bag. Once weighed (a whopping 15lbs :rotfl:…it was mostly empty for souvenirs), I brought it over to the bag drop, then made my way downstairs to security. On the way I ended up walking past an NBC news crew filming Tom Costello for the Today show, so if you were watching that on June 3rd you may have seen me in the background! It's funny, I always see on various news on TV they're filming at DCA, but this is the first time I've actually seen them in person there!

I breezed through the precheck line, then went to find my gate.

Once it was verified my gate existed, I went to pick up a bottle of water for the flight. I had gotten there a bit earlier than I would have liked, so I had about an hour until boarding, so I settled in and read a book on my phone until boarding started.

The wait went by relatively quickly, and soon they were calling for people who needed extra assistance to board the plane.

Now I need to back up a bit here. So the day prior I had done my check-in, and I noticed that in the five rows of even more space seats at the front of the plane, only two rows had people in them, the rest were empty. And for some reason, even though 24 of the 30 even more space seats were unoccupied, two people decided to select the seats directly next to me! What on earth!?!? Why would you choose to sit next to someone when you could have an entire row to yourself?!?!

Anyways, so we start boarding, and they let those who need assistance or extra time on first. Since I was in the even more space seats, I was in the next boarding group so headed on. I quickly discovered who had oddly decided to sit next to me….two elderly people who could hardly walk! So now this had me even more confused. If you know that you need to get on first since you struggle to walk, why would you book the aisle and middle seat in a row where the window seat was already occupied when you had literally 24 other seats to pick from where there was no one else in the row?!?! I’m thinking maybe a TA booked it for them and didn’t think or look at the seats selected?

Anyways, so now I felt horrible because these two really struggled to stand up to let me into my seat. Ugh.

I had considered just sitting elsewhere, but a flight attendant said since the plane was fairly empty, we had to be in our assigned seats for weight distribution.

The flight was also mostly flight attendants and pilots, not just from Jetblue, but from four other airlines as well (our flight attendant announced that to let the rest of us know this would be the best flight because of this!).

It actually was a really good flight, the flight attendants actually working the flight were amazing and kept joking around the entire flight. It did take a bit longer than normal since we took a different route than normal so it was just over a 2 hour flight time, but it was super smooth, and as someone who’s not great with flying, it definitely helped knowing we had like 10 extra pilots on board in case anything happened! ::yes::

Even though the flight was a bit longer, we ended up boarding early, and took off early, so we actually arrived right on time at 1:00!

Once we landed I made the long trek through terminal C to baggage claim. As I was making the trek, I ended up walking next to one of those blue transportation carts, and the driver looks over after a few minuets and goes “what, you racing me?!?!” :rotfl2: I told him I was trying to but it was hard to keep up with him! He offered me a lift, but by that point we were almost at the escalators, so I declined.

This trip we splurged and got the Minnie Vans to pick us up from the airport, so as I got to the top of escalator, I saw my driver waiting for me!

We chatted a bit while waiting for my bag to come out, which was shockingly fast this time. I feel like it usually takes 30-40 minutes, but it only took like 15-20 minutes this time, and my bag was like the third one out!

Bag in hand, we made it over to the elevators to the lower level where he was parked. Once in the car it was a pretty quick drive over to my resort for the night, Coronado Springs! It did pour the entire drive over though, but luckily ended just as we were pulling into the resort!

Next up: Coronado Springs Club Level!

Oh, I'm SO glad you enjoyed Capa. I can't wait to hear all about your experience. I'm equally excited to hear how Coronado Club Level rates compared to the others you've done. How nice that the Minnie Vans are an airport option for those staying CL. Ugh on the people in your row on the plane but I'm sure you're right and they didn't do it intentionally / didn't know better.

Woo hoo! New trip report. I'm still sad our trips didn't overlap a little so we could meet in person. (Although, we DO live in the same state. LOL) I'm glad your travel day went well. Can't wait to hear about all the birthday events.
