We are currently booked at AoA with a pin for free dining. As much as I want to see the new resort, I am just not that excited to stay there. If we had the kids with us, we would def. not be changing our reservations. But with this being an aduts only trip, I really am thinking about switching resorts. I am just not feeling the overly kiddie theme. I am really not happy about the double bed thing. I had put in a request for a king sized bed, but I am thinking there is no way that will be able to be honored if all the LM rooms are book like it looks on the website. I know we won't be comfortable. I am really thinking hard about switching to POFQ. I think we will be much happier there. Only problem is the hubby just keeps looking at it moneywise. He is not happy about paying extra for a hotel room that we won't be spending a ton of time in. How can I "sell" this to him? What are the biggest differences between a value and a moderate?

What about a compromise and staying at POP instead? You can request a king room there. Still a value but a more adult feel I think over the LM rooms.

I personally would upgrade to a mod. It should be pretty minimal to upgrade if your PIN was QS for value and regular DDP for mod or deluxe. The main difference I think is queen beds vs doubles. at POFQ you get the boat to DTD, decent food options, smaller quaint resort. POFQ also has a king bed option you can book to be guaranteed one

You might want to call and see what's available on your PIN before choosing another resort. With 3 months out your choices might be limited. You could also check your dates with the general free dining offer and see what's available.

For my DH, who stayed one night at Pop and said "never again" it would be a no-brainer. Like AoA it's loud, walls were very thin, and the decor is kind of tacky and so in-your-face. We are going to AoA for the kids, but I know DH will hate it. We usually stay at POFQ and love how quiet it is, more mature and romantic landscaping, just a nicer experience for adults IMO. You have a nice boat ride to downtown disney right there too.

Exactly my thoughts! With the upgrade to DDP instead of the QS, I'd do it in a heartbeat! :goodvibes

What are the biggest differences between a value and a moderate?

Mods have:
Quenn beds (except for CBR)
Bigger rooms
Pool slide
Hot tub
TS restaraunt
Multiple covered bus stops
Lusher landscaping
Toned down disney theme

A friend and I did a 'adult' trip there and stayed at Pop. I had only stayed deluxe before this trip, and tried convincing her to stay at a mod resort. It didn't work, because there is a decent price difference, and we did stay at Pop. But after my stay at Pop, I was even more convinced that a mod was the way to go. The amenities of a mod and deluxe resort just seem more 'worth the price'. You are still spending a good amount of money on the value resort. I like the hot tubs and bigger pools, I'd prefer to have a TS rather than just a big food court. The landscaping is more elegant, which again, makes me feel like I'm staying at a nice resort, and with the mod, whether you get the king bed or not, you at least know that a queen bed is a given (which didn't matter in our case, but it does with yours).
Everyone has differing opinions of the 'value' of the resorts, and this is mine  Some people really do use the resort just for sleeping, but I like actually USING the resort. So if you feel like larger beds, nice pool amenities, more food options are going to be important factors, then upgrade to a mod.

In addition to all of the other amenities found at the mods make sure you tell your DH that POFQ also has a lounge (the Scat Cat Club) with live entertainment most evenings. :)

I would choose POP if you're not feeling AoA without the children. I can understand that because I wouldn't want to stay at AoA or ASMovies without the children. POFQ is my favorite moderate resort, but if I'm on a budget, I wouldn't mind staying at POP. POP is a nice fun value resort. POP is for all ages, especially those who appreciate the yesteryears.. going back in time. If you want to visit AoA, it's only a bridge away from POP. :)

You should definitley switch. Tell him its more quiet and it's not that crowded that it would be enjoyable to stay at.

POFQ is such a nice resort for adults! We have been twice since the renovations and the queen beds are wonderful. The transportation is much better than the values. We usually used our car and the walk to the buses or the parking lot never took more than a couple of minutes. The food court is once of our favorites. And the boat to DTD is perfect for a relaxing trip to Ghirardelli!

POR or CSR would he a good choice. POR has a good lounge with yee has bob. Boat to DTD, carriage rides beautiful grounds. CSR has a great pool and dining options and beautiful grounds as well. FQ is ok. I don't get the level of enthusiasm for FQ on the boards. The place look nice for the most part but the decor is gaudy and this year while there, I was gobsmacked by how filthy the food court was. I'd never stay there.

The values are chaotically busy. So much so that it can be frustrating. The buses and food courts are bedlam and the beds are too small. Riverside or Coronado are the way to go.

We stayed at the PoP last trip when we had the kiddos along. We enjoyed it, but hubby and I did sleep in seperate beds the whole time instead of trying to share a double. If we switched to the PoP, we would be in the same boat as we are with AoA; no guarntee on not getting double beds. I did book POFQ. I hope we enjoy it.

We have stayed at ASM and several of the moderate resorts. We now own DVC so we normally stay at our home resort. We we need to add on a "extra" night we ALWAYS book at POFQ, we think it is the moderate that is most like the deluxe resorts. We always ask for a King room over looking the river and it feels like a hide away for us. Not to mention the beignets in the food court. We have stayed for a week, a night here and there and a weekend and have found the resort to be spotless and not over run with kids. We have also stayed at POR and found it to have a lot of families and we do not think it is an intimate.

Well the old saying of "If mama ain't happy, nobody is happy" is priceless to your dh and remind him of that!

Go over to www.allearsnet.com and check out the resort videos of POFQ. Something over and above a photo slideshow that will show him how relaxing POFQ is.

My selling points for POFQ over a value are:

Reservable king bed room. Queen beds if for some reason king rooms are sold out.

Larger bathroom with double sinks.

More relaxing atmosphere with fewer kids.

Boat to DTD and all its restaurants and nightlife.

Live music in the bar, Elliot Dyson is amazing!

Food court has some really nice selections, love the Jambalaya, beignets, shrimp po boys.

Pool bar and inside bar.

I enjoy the values and when the kids were younger they worked great for us. But for an adults only trip, I would go with a moderate every time if I could at all swing it. I will also add any of the mods would be great. CBR still has the double beds but you can reserve a king room there as well. The others all have queen beds in their non king rooms.

In addition to all of the GREAT points everyone mentioned, switch!!!! We visited AoA at our last trip (w/my 2 boys, I may add 12 and 9) and we all agreed that while it's a nice place to visit, we wouldn't want to live there.

My DH did like the idea of being at the pool in a pool room at POP but only because of the boys.

We stayed at POR and all LOVED every minute of it.

AoA is VERY SUNNY, no nice shade areas like the moderates. I would totally go POR. I guess you said POFQ, so that over AoA, I guess, but I suggest thinking about POR, it's my favorite mod.!
