Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with something. I wanted to order a replica of the top layer of our wedding cake (which was originally made by the Grand Floridian bakery) for our upcoming trip. We'll be staying off-site, so it's my understanding that we'll either have to pick it up, or it can be given to us at a GF restaurant. I also wanted to arrange for this on the first or second night of our trip, so we can enjoy the cake for the rest of our week. :cutie:

Here's the problem: DH is refusing to go to a GF restaurant! I told him I wanted to try some new places this trip, and showed him the menus from both 1900 Park Fare and the GF Cafe. He said he doesn't want to go to EITHER one and would rather go back to Ohana on that particular night. We have already been to Citricos and Narcoosee's on previous trips and weren't interested in returning. Picking it up in person by myself also won't be possible because it will just be the two of us and we will always be together.

So, short of ruining the surprise, does anyone have any ideas? I know he would really, really love the cake, and it would be a great surprise for him, as he often talks about how great the cake was and he wishes he could have more of it. :rotfl:

The only thing I could think of is to tell him you have a sepcial suprise for him and it would mean so much to you if he can PLEASE eat at the GF.
Happy Anninversary amd many more :)

Yep, I'd tell him it's time for a compromise....you'll go to Ohanas with him, but he needs to come to GF Cafe with you. Hey, isn't that what marriage is about, comprise?

Tell him you were unable to make reservations anywhere else

Silent treatment for a week until he caves

Tears until he caves

Bargain with him

Appropriately raised a Disney Freak! Love it! haha so was I.:cool1:

What about a nice walk on the beach - you stop in to use the restroom (go get the cake) and present him with the cake on the beach... I know I'd love it!!

Since you are staying offsite...any chance you could just go tour the place via the monorail after a day in the MK (not Ohana night) for 'old time's sake' and ask to go look at the ELP or Wishes. Then tell him to go on so you can run into 'use the bathroom' and grab the cake, knife, plates and a bottle of wine and glasses. Then you can eat the cake and watch the fireworks or elp :)

WOW! Tons of great ideas here! I had really given up hope too! You guys are awesome! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: I love it! But that would prevent me from doing those things the next time I want things my way! ;)

I'd just go to Citricos again.

GFC and 1900 Park Fair aren't romantic or as nice as Citricos is, so the cake would seem more appropriate there.

1) Give the guy a break!
2) Why duplicate eateries when there are other good/better choices.
3) Why not
. . . pay a bellman to pickup and deliver the cake elsewhere?
. . . go to a Boardwalk eatery and have their bakery do the cake?

Are they allowing you to pick it up? The GF has stopped allowing cake pickups according to reports on the cake thread.

Don't you hate when they don't cooperate? Next time start off with no choices and a statement of I really want to eat at the GF, which place do you prefer?:thumbsup2

Oh my goodness you can pick a cake up!?! Really?! That would solve my problems!

well my idea isn't quite as inventive as the others, but you could pretend that you got some complimentary tickets (or won something) for the restaurant you need to go to and I'm sure that he wouldn't mind that it wasn't free after all when he saw the delicious cake :)

Is there any chance that he has a surprise in store for you as well, which is why he is being so adamant about dining at O’hana?

You could book a table at the Gardenview Lounge for afternoon tea and have the cake delivered at the end of the meal. My hubby and I have special-ordered items from the GF Bakery in the past and we always have them brought in at then end of tea.

It's a very relaxing, quiet, and romantic way to spend the afternoon. And that way you get your cake and you both get to try something new (unless you've done tea before in which case you can just ignore my suggestion).

This idea intrigues me... could someone verify that this can actually be done, to a restaurant at another resort?

This is a great idea too!
