I know how mean this will probably sound but hopefully someone else can relate. My DH has had the flu since Monday  And has been whining every waking moment since. Earlier in the week I was sympathetic and tried to do what I could to help him feel better. Now I'm afraid to go to the bedroom where he is sleeping because the urge to suffocate him may be too strong to ingore  Seriously I wouldn't do that but he really is driving me nuts. Sorry to go on like a crazy person but between him, working, and two busy DDs I am at my witts end.

Thanks for letting me vent...I'm feelilng saner (if that's such a word) already :)

Men are the biggest babies when they're sick! I hate it when my dh comes down with something. All he wants to do is moan and groan on the couch or in bed. Sometimes I really feel for him, other times I just want to throttle him. What about when I'M sick??? Where's my sympathy????

It's a well known fact that many men are the biggest babies when they're sick.. My 1st DH was like that and looking back on my life with him now, I probably should have suffocated him - LOL - but my 2nd DH was the exact opposite - as tough as nails and didn't want ANYONE making a fuss over him.. As a matter of fact, in 38 years he never took one sick day off from work - even after he was jumped (robbed) and severely beaten with a metal rod.. He had a concussion, upmteen stitches in his head, a broken nose, all of his teeth were loosened, and both of his ankles were sprained.. Did he stay home the next day? Nope.. Went to work on crutches.. I mean there's "tough" and then there's "What the heck is the matter with you?" LOL.. That's just the way he was though - never shook that "tough Marine" attitude.. :)

I feel your pain. Everytime DH gets a cold, you might think it's the end of the world. "Honey, please make me a sandwich/get me a drink/close/open the curtains, get my medicine, etc". Sometimes I think men always need their "mommy" to take care of them.

Ummmm...your a "mom" - right? Well there's your answer.. You are not allowed to be sick - ever - under any circumstances.. ;)

I know what you mean. My husband had gastroenteritis earlier in the week, Thursday night/Friday morning to be exact. He moaned and twisted and turned in bed until about 3 am. Then I told him to go get one of the phenergan suppositories that I had for my son, who had gastroenteritis last Saturday/Sunday.

Now, as an aside, I have some advice for parents who have children with gastroenteritis, otherwise known as "stomach flu", based on my years of experience as a family doctor:

1. Vomit is infectious material. You don't want to put your hands in it. It has the nasty virus you don't want to have or spread to others.

2. There is no need to put your hand over your child's mouth. Believe me, your hand won't even hold the amount of emesis of a 2 mo infant, let alone a ten year old. This exposes you to the virus (see point 1, above).

3. Don't move your child when he or she is vomiting. Move a trash can over to him instead. If you move a vomiting child, you spew infectious material all over whatever surface is in your path. I would much rather clean up a puddle in one place on the floor instead of the hallway, walls and equipment between the room you are in and the restroom.

This is all relavent, because my husband did all of the above manuevers when my son was sick last weekend, and, thus, got sick himself.

Ok...eeeeewwwww

About 10 years ago my youngest DS AND my DH both got chicken pox at the same time .... Now I know that it is much rougher on adults getting chicken pox than when you are young, but OMG!! He was horrible, whined and complained so much, took 2-3 oatmeal baths daily... horrible! My DS on the other hand was a trooper!

When I'm down I'm too sick to moan and groan :)
