My Daughter Trying to Find a Prom Dress

Jessica McClintock is nationwide though, if I do recall. My friend bought her dress down in Florida, and wound up having the same dress as a girl at the prom anyway (in NY!).

I went to four proms, and now that I'm in college I'm terribly upset that i can't go dress shopping. My friends and I used to try on dresses for the fun of it. I never had problems finding a dress, but then again, I started shopping in February for them, lol.

Hope she has a great time.

Just wait until you and your friends start getting married - the great bridesmaid dress hunt begins!

(do what I did - just hit Jessica McClintock then! hehehe...)

Yes - it all works out in the end! It was great fun helping my mother shop for the clothes for the 50th wedding anniversary parties that my brother, sister, and I gave. She was as excited as a girl going to a prom. We had a reception, dinner dance and brunch - we went ALL out. I'm so glad we did as she got sick about six weeks later and died about 3 years later after a long struggle with cancer.

My parents had NO money but we all ended up with a good education and good jobs thanks to them and their guideance (and lots of scholarships and loans.)

I'll be going prom dress shopping soon. What's worse, is that she already has the dress invisioned in her head. I hope, I really hope we either find it, or find something she likes as much.

Try the Fashion Mall, there is a store there called Cache and they have some gorgeous dresses. A gal I work with said they weren't much over the cost of a dress at Ayers or comparable. I keep drooling at the dresses they have been putting out over the past few weeks. Very unique and beautiful.

I bought my senior prom dress the July before while on Vacation and only paid 10.00!!!!!! for it. My shoes cost more than my dress.

DD is going to her sophomore semi-formal at the end of this month, and here is the dress that she got, only hers is pale pink.

It was one of those things, where she tried it on, and we KNEW! (I thought it was too expensive, but DH felt nothing was too good for his little girl. ) She had gone shopping with a friend first, and got some ideas about what she wanted. It was a very easy process, much to my surprise. I hope it's this easy for Junior and Senior Proms, and weddings, with her and younger DD.

(Mods...sorry if it's too big!! Don't know how to do those techy things, like make pics smaller.)

Mare, that dress is beautiful. :)

Bridget, thanks, I haven't been up there in forever, we'll have to check it out.

MaryAnn, that dress is gorgeous!!! She's going to look like a princess!

My DD is going to her boyfriend's (senior) prom this year. We were shopping the sales in January and on a lark she tried on some dresses and absolutely fell in love with one at the Windsor Store. They had tons of dresses, but am I ever glad she got it when we did as they are now all picked over, not to mention tried on, stretched out, wrinkled etc. from being tried on by others so many times.

Hers is actually very, very similar to MaryAnnDVC's daughter's in the pic above, except it is in a deep pink. When she put it on, I had tears in my eyes and though it was more than what we had planned, I couldn't resist because she looked so darned beautiful--like Cinderella.:D

Anyway, have fun shopping. Windsor also has a website with pictures of their dresses, too. I believe it's just Windsor.com.
