My crockpot bit the dust today!

I just got a 5ct round Crock Pot (the actual Crock Pot brand, made by Rival) for $15 at Walmart. I was shocked!

I have a 7ct digital oval off-brand one that I've had 3 years and it's still going... I figure it'll bite the dust soon, though. :(

So I'm wondering is there a difference between the Rival ones and the ones labelled Original Crock Pot?? tia

I have a digital crock pot and I am always afraid the power will flash while I am out.. turning the crock pot off.
I have never had this happen, but it does make me wish that I had bought a plain old turn the knob style.... just sayin:rolleyes1

I've been looking at getting a new crock pot. Mine has 4 settings that have reverted to Hot, Hot, Hot, Hot or warm. I leave for work at 11am and need a way not to burn stuff until 6pm when they eat supper. Any recommendations? Also if you want a fabulous crock pot recipe book get "Make it Fast, Cook it Slow" Great stuff.

At least it is a good time of year to find one. There are quite a few places that have them on sale.

I'm not usually someone who even looks at brand names-but I had a Rival crockpot for 20 years before it gave up. I then bought a no-name one at Walmart and it never worked as well-it just wasn't as good. I still have it for backup but I got another Rival and it's much better.

I got my Rival at Walmart (it's non digital, less to break IMHO) the settings are warm, low, high.

We got a really nice Rival on Black Friday last year. It was my second...I put cold water in the hot crock and it cracked so it was my fault.

I had to go look at my brand, it's a Hamilton Beach-Stay or Go and I love it. It's nondigital and gets used at least once a week.

If you can wait til Black Friday you may be able to score a nice one without spending too much. Last year both target and Wal-mart had them on sale. I think I paid 13.00 for mine and I love it.

I have the exact crock pot as the poster right above me. I've had it quite a few years but now it has only one setting - HOT unfortunately. Maybe I'll just buy another. Does anyone use those crockpot liners.

Oh that sucks. So far a year later it is going strong. I hope I don't end up with the same problem but for 13.00 I think I've already gotten my money out of it :goodvibes

I do have another one that is not digital but it's only 2.5 quarts and I've had that one for about 8 years, I believe it's a Rival. It's been a great crock too!

My Rival Crock-Pot is almost 17 years old and still works perfectly. I've used it an average of about once a week for all of those years. When it bites the dust I'll get another Rival, for sure, and I hope it'll be as good but I'm afraid it'll be a case of "they don't make things like they used to."

I've used the liners, especially when I know I'm making a meal that's going to be messy (stews, etc, as opposed to soups).

I love them. You just have to be careful when you pull it out - it's unruly, and can spill or burn you if you're careless.

:)
