I just pulled the trigger on the 5D, 24-70/2.8 lens, and the 580ex II flash. :cool1:

A definite upgrade from my XTI, crummy glass (plastic?), and the 430ex. :woohoo:

I just can't believe how much money I spent  but I've been second shooting weddings, so it'll pay for itself. Eventually.

Congratulations on your new toys! Um...sorry.... I meant work tools...

Hmmm- You have the same theory as I have on the 70-200/2.8vr paying for itself (somehow...) :rolleyes1

Congratulations on your new stuff.

Thanks everyone :)

That's my next lens. Once I pay this stuff off.

I've got about $2000 worth of work lined up between now and Dec, so it's not too bad. And the xti and my slow glassjust weren't cutting in in dark churches where you're not permitted to use flash.

Can you tell I'm still justifying this to myself? :rotfl2:

Sweet!! Full frame!! :thumbsup2

Let's see some of the resulting "Art" once you have it!

"Hey honey! Great news! I bought that new camera with all the gear to take to Disney World! Bad new is, we'll need to cancel the next 4 trips to pay for it."

Actually, we live in Orlando :cool1:

Congrats:cool1: What an upgrade! Since I don't do anything professionally, I can't even try to justify my expenditures, but I don't let that stop me.

Enjoy!

Congrats on your new equipment - you will be very happy with them.

I do suggest an extra battery or 2 for the 5D - the battery life isn't the greatest. Also, while everyone salivates over full frame sensors, they do have their issues (I have a 1DsMkII so I speak from first hand knowledge). The main problem is light fall off around the edges of the sensor so you will almost always have soft edges and vignetting (which is most noticeable with blue skies and other solid light backgrounds). The latter is easily fixed with ACR adjustments. The former is best considered when framing your shots - don't put anything important too close to the edges.

Otherwise, you will have a fabulous time with you body and lens - it is a fabulous walk-around lens!

It's going to be delivered Thursday :cool1:
