WOW........what a day we had here Sunday! The weather was absolutely awesome ~ 86, although very very windy! We had anywhere from 30 - 50 m.p.h. winds.  My family owns a family entertainment business........we have 5 go kart tracks, bumper cars, 2 bumper boat ponds, miniature golf and an arcade. We also have a manufacturing building that we make concession go karts!! The south side of our property is all woods (pines). Well......Sunday there was a forest fire.   My BIL just happened to notice it on his way home thank goodness! We called the fire department at about noon. They could not contain the fire because of the strong winds, so they called in our neighboring fire department. After about an hour, they were going to call in another department.......but that department got called to another fire. They actually told us to evacuate the property because the smoke was horrendous, and they weren't sure what the fire was going to do because of the winds. They thought they had it beat, and left close to 5:45. We then called them back around 6:30 because we noticed fire again. They came back out, and again thought they had it beat, and left about 8:30. They foamed the area.........it looked like it had snowed several inches! Well........the siren went off again at 9:30. I just knew it was for us again, so I immediately headed back down to work to see what was going on. The fire was going again. They called in the DNR, who brought dozers in to trench out around the fire. Once again........they thought they had it beat! They were again down here at 1:30 in the morning because it was again fully involved.  This time, they finally were able to put the beast to bed!!! It was a very long day/night..........we thought there for a while that we may lose our entire business. The fire came within about 40 yards of the buildings. We have 2 ~ 300 gallon fuel tanks.......and we also had 150 gallons of racing fuel which is very high octane (my brother drives a stock car). We moved the racing fuel as far away as we could, but there is no way to move the other tanks........so we were very nervous. The problem they were facing is it is so dry here, and there is about 6" of pine needles........and the fire was traveling beneath the needles, so each time there was a good wind it turned the needles/leaves up and it re-ignited the fire.

All ended up okay..........nothing other than the woods caught fire, and nobody was hurt!! But what a scary day though. ::yes:: :(

Glad to hear everyone is ok. I do not envy you that adventure. Hope things have settled down.
