My coupon shake down today!

You can all thank Extreme Couponing (the TV show) for ruining coupons..

I know that there was an article in the news (msn.com) about stores coming down hard on coupons.

Sorry to hear of your experience. I know how you feel and agree with what others have posted. The extreme couponers along with the show have everyone hating anyone with a coupon - and then treating us like dirt. It was an honest mistake and there was no reason for the rudeness on the cashiers part.

I went into Publix recently and after the cashier rung everything up I handed her several coupons. Maybe 5 at most. The bag boy said "Oh God - not coupons. I hate those things." Like I wasn't even standing there and couldn't hear him. The cashier agreed and they went on to have a discussion about how they hated coupons and the people that bring them in - all as I stood there with my two kids waiting for her to ring them up. Nice customer service...

You are nicer then I am because the moment they started running their pie holes in front of me, their customer> i would have said, well you know, I hate when cashiers and baggers run their pie holes about in front of customers so have fun voiding all this out and returning stuff to the shelves.:rotfl:

There are posters on here who I agree with. The original coupon was off the Eggos, the other coupon was to get 1.50 off bread. I would have argued that point. I hate to say it but if you made enough of a stink (at the courtesy counter) they would most likely redeem the 2nd coupon for you.

But I continue to say...everyone knows that the *stores* are creating these moments, they are ordering extra items, they are allowing the couponers to come in and be filmed...the stores are causing these "problems" for themselves. I just don't understand how they can then justify using the show against other people, when the stores are entirely complicit in these amazing "I got 1K worth of groceries for $5" type of moments.

I would have been embarrassed if I were chastised by the clerk, but there's no way I'd ever create a stink over $1.00 like some people are saying.

It's just not that much money.

I went to my local Safeway and one of the checkers was helping my checker and she told her if any didn't scan to set them aside and when she is done ringing the others up to make sure she credited me for all of those. She didn't even tell her to check them and make sure I bought the correct items.

I was in ShopRite on Tuesday of this week. There was 2 lines and both had people with about 30 coupons. When they left the women in front of me said to the casher. Wow they saved alot of money. Now that person didn't seem to stock up on anything. The women said her issues are the people coming in for certain items to sell them again at full price. Like flea market spots etc. She said they come in with mutiple people. They will clear the shelves. So we should keep in mind. So the people that is ruining it for everyone are the ones buying it in bulk with friends/employees and reselling for full price.
