My co-worker is a fountain of misinformation!! 5/14 the day has come page 130

Does she knows what racial means or does it not apply to her?? Did she ever get around to apologizing to the Asian girl about what she said? Its funny the first time, pitiful the second time around but by the third time is its just tragic and outrageous. EG r u planning to report this or let it go for the moment.

Wow.

That is absolutely unreal.

I'm not even sure what to say at this point.

EG - I haven't commented on your thread before but have enjoyed it.

I'm curious, too, if you will report her comments. While not made about you or anyone in the office, her views are not something to be said in the office to anyone.

She is so repulsive. I just can't understand that level of ignorance. I wish I could meet her and let her know how ignorant she truly is.

This woman sounds like a big redneck jerk!! (Wanted to say something that rhymes with bass pole, but didn't want to get into trouble.) Just unbelievable. Yeah, let's not let the kid grow up near people who were here first. :confused3

EG - I can't believe you have to put up with that woman's mouth. What a wretched beast.

i think she wants to get fired so she can collect unemployment

I thought of that too. Maybe she's ready to retire and is hoping for an extra "push" so she can collect.

Is she for real? The two day suspension meant nothing to her!

She wouldn't like it here in central Florida. We've got a lot of ethnic diversity. I love it, because I learn so much (and get great food to boot!).

As a manager, I think they're creating a paper trail so that when she DOES get fired, there will be a clear record of the misbehavior. When that happens, a person does NOT collect unemployment. I've had employees go to collect and once we presented paperwork, that was it.

Okay went and talked to the lady in hr while she was covering the phones. I was told that they cannot control or police everyone's comments and conversations, and that unless it is directed specifically to someone in the workplace, they will not press the issue.

So in light of that, I will be walking away from my desk/her when these comments are being made.

But never fear! She says plenty of stupid stuff to keep this thread going!

Good for you that u went and told her!! Do not like the company's policy that racism has to have a victim to be punished!! Anyways I sure hope some1 actually sits with her and makes her understand such stuff is not acceptable. Maybe the boss she is friendly with?

I was under the impression that if someone's comments make another employee uncomfortable, whether or not it is directed right at them, it is considered offensive and corrective action should be taken. Under the policy your hr person told you, Miss I or someone else could conceivably tell all kinds of racist jokes and send racist emails, and as long as there is nobody of that particular nationality in the company or she's not singling out one person then she did nothing wrong? That makes no sense!

I really hope someone offends her to her face, see how she likes a taste of her own medicine. Then again, she probably wouldn't get it and would be too stupid to be offended.

We fired an employee three years ago for making rude comments about minority clients and insubordination and she applied for unemployment and got it! At first the state denied her application when we filled out the forms indicating she was fired and what for, but she demanded a hearing and the hearing officer (a minority female) overruled the denial and granted the six months of unemployment benefits.

Technically, an employee fired for cause can't collect unemployment. But, unfortunately it does sometimes happen. A lot depends on the hearing officer, and a lot depends on how well documented the issues are. Plus, it costs money to fight it, and sometimes companies don't fight as hard as they are able to due to the expense and time involved (not saying your company took this route, just that some do).

I do believe that HR acted appropriately in giving her the two-day suspension and is creating a paper trail. As far as the comment she made to EG, if there isn't a pattern on record of her making those comments to EG, and thereby creating a hostile work environment, it can't be considered the "third strike." They should have, though documented her report so they could begin a papaer trail on this as well.

i am flabbergasted at this women.

one day she is going to get it right in the kisser for that mouth.

Wow... She really doesn't get it.
As much as I love to hear about her stupidity, I hope she gets fired for her racial comments

Subscribing, AGAIN!

I don't know what happened to my previous subscription, but I'm addicted....

Our boss is due to have her baby any day now. So this afternoon she leaves for her doctor's appointment. Before she leaves there's this gem of a conversation...

Miss Info - Take your dh with you (boss' dh also works here)

Boss - Why? It's just a doctor's appointment.

Miss Info - Because I KNOW! you're going to have this baby this afternoon.

Boss - uh huh sure. I wish.

Miss Info - No really! I'm psychic and I just know when this stuff is going to happen.

Boss (laughing) You're WHAT?!?!

Miss Info - I'm psychic. I feel stuff, I know things are going to happen before they do. Take your dh.

Boss walks away laughing and shaking her head.

Miss Info looks at me, and I say...

If she keeps laughing like that she will have that baby and your prediction will come true.
