Actually she was my mom's cat. My mom died of pancreatic cancer about 18 months ago. Mom lived alone and Penny was her only companion and they were so close. After Mom died she would often just sit and look at the spot on the couch where Mom used to sit, as if she could see her.
Penny was doing well except for being hyperthyroid, and we used the transdermal gel on her for that. Her hair was just starting to grow back and she was gaining some weight when she got an abscess on her face. She came through surgery great but started urinating every few minutes. Vet thought it was a UTI and the antibiotics would clear it up.
On Saturday she didn't want to eat and kept sitting in my lap and just putting her head against my arm, which was strange. On Sunday we took her to the vet and he took blood and gave her fluids, but thought it might be her kidneys. She got much worse when she got home and passed away during the night.

I miss her so much! She was kind of the last link to my mom and now she's gone. I hope they are together again somewhere.
