My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 comes out today in the movie theaters. Who's excited? Opa!

So excited. I like to tell people that MBFGW was based on my life.

I am half Greek on my mothers' side and I cannot tell you how many of the stereotypes portrayed in the movie are on point.

When "American as Apple Pie" DH proposed, we decided to fly to Cyprus to get married in the church my parents got married in. He experience a full on Greek immersion akin to Ian's experience.

I regret that he never met my crazy Yia Yia. That movie made me miss her so much. But it was my uncle Tassos who would rant about the Turks, not Yia Yia.

My mother would tell anyone who would listen that "that word came from the Greek" every chance she would get and she once proudly served a vegetarian meal to a die hard vegetarian only find out later that chicken broth is not vegetarian (it was used in most of the dishes).

That's really cool. Thanks for sharing. My mom has some Greek heritage due to having Ashkenazi Jewish dna (Lavantine/Greek/Roman dna mix). I wish I knew where my Greek ancestors came from before they settled in Rome, but I know I have some Greek in me somewhere. 🙂

Nia Vardalos is a a hometown WInnipeg girl. Will for sure go to see #3.
We saw the first one on our honeymoon in Downtown Disney.

Saw the first one. Won't be paying money for a third, possibly when it hits free TV? What was the 2nd about?

Loved the first movie. Really laughed in the theater. Looking forward to this just for fun.

I saw the first one with a friend of mine who is 100% Greek. It was like watching his family on the screen, down to the "here try this" [shoves food or drink in hand].

My friend's mother was a hoot and she always handed me food when I went over there, but then she would hand me a small cup of ice cold liqueur. I only drank it once - It was ouzo and I HATE black liquorice.

We'll probably see this one.

Yes, all visitors must be offered food and beverage. And all visitors must eat a token bite, even if it is not something they like.

έλα κάτσε να φας (come, sit, eat) was herd at every single visit - even when it was our tenth friend of the day, we had to have at least a bite of whatever was offered.

Oh, I ate alright. Her food was stupendous. Is that what she was saying in Greek? I just always replied OK! But ouzo though...yeah, not sure about that one. Although in all fairness, the last time I was in Prague, I found myself in a club at 1:30AM one night and was drinking Absinthe and red bulls and loved them. Maybe I just need to try an ouzo and red bull...

I would look forward to Greek dinner in Astoria Queens more than this movie which got 28% on Rotten Tomatoes. Ouch.
