I didn't reply before because I really couldn't believe it. I am so glad you are getting your photos back and I hope your DD feels better quickly. I can't understand the nerve of some people. Is she getting older? Like maybe just nuts in general?

Fate stepped in cause it did not want you to break your aunties hip:lmao:

Just kidding!. I hope your DD feels better and that you were able to put together a nice Easter Dinner today:hug:. I'm so glad that you are going to be able to get your pictures back too!:goodvibes

Glad to hear you are getting the pics back. And your poor daughter!! I have been sick for a week and one of my kids got it so I feel for you guys. And hope it goes away quicker in your house than mine!!

Glad it turned out OK...definitely one of the strangest things I have heard in a while.

I am glad that it all worked out okay for you. That's what family is all about....loving them even though they are a little crazy!! Watch her carefully next time she comes to visit, though!

OMG!! This could have been either of my great aunts. If they saw something and wanted it they would just take it. It was knid of funny really, because when they passed away we found all this stuff they had swiped from family members. Usually it was something that had already been passed down from their parents, but still it was funny. One of them would go through her own house at Christmas and give sheets or crystal etc.. as gifts. Then, a few month later she would swear you had stole it from her. Most of us would laugh, but my and her sister would get so mad. I would love to blame it on age, but it was just who they were.

OP...I was thinking about your situation today and thought I'd check the Dis when I came home from my sister's house (where she had assembled her own brand of crazy---- compliments of her in-laws). I'm glad your Mother intervened. :hippie:

What a weird story! Were they professional photos? If so, your mom may not be able to get them copied.

just wanted to update everyone.... due to a bunch of events... I finally got my pictures back this morning and they are sitting on my piano.... just took 3 months...lol

Glad they are back where they belong!

Thanks for sharing your story. I found it fascinating. There was great advice on your thread on dealing with unusual actions by relatives. It may come in handy some day.

Glad to see you got them back. When my son was born, we took 2 rolls of film while in the hospital (no digital cameras). A few days after coming home, we had them developed. I am a huge picture buff, so they meant a lot to me. My in-laws came for their first visit to see our son that week. We showed the pictures to them. About a week after they left, I was looking for the pictures and couldn't locate them anywhere. I was devastated. I thought maybe I was distracted and threw them away. I even asked my husband if perhaps he mistakenly gave them to his mother. He said no.

Fast forward a couple months when we visited my in-laws. What do you think was on her livingroom table? An enlarged picture of my husband holding our son within minutes of his birth. Not only had she stolen the pictures, but she stole the negatives too!

That was 19-1/2 years ago. I never did get my pictures or my negatives. So, I am glad at least someone is able to get back stolen pictures. I am hoping maybe the day she dies and the house is cleaned out I can find them...and that they have not been ruined from improper storage or even worse....that she kept the one picture she wanted and threw the rest away along with the negatives.
