Hi Everyone,So I've been lurking on here for awhile envious of all of you amazing beautiful disney brides!!!* Disney would definitely be my wedding venue of choice if I didn't live so far!* It would really be tough for some of my family to make the trek! But anyway... On to the good stuff :)My now Disney Fiance and I own DVC and we go to Disney 2-3 times a year.* We've been dating for about 5 and a half years now (I was his high school prom date!) and I assumed that a proposal would be coming soon.* We were planning to vacation this December in Disney and at the last minute we had some extra points and decided to also gave the day before labor day for a last minute week long get away before our crazy work schedules started (I own a dance studio and my year started this week and he owns a personal training studio which starts to pick up in teh fall). Now I had no expectations for this trip at all and was completely surprised when he proposed! Here is how it all went down! Our third night of the trip we had reservations at the Crystal palace in Magic Kingdom.* This was the first restaurant we ever tried in Disney and we both love it.* We usually do a breakfast and dinner every trip.* I had planned the reservations so that we could eat and then walk right outside to catch Wishes, which is my favorite night time fireworks display in disney!* I checked into the restaurant and Brendan, my DF, had to go to the bathroom (he was actually giving the ring to the manager!)The hostess called us up and as we were about to walk into the front door another hostess asked to have a word with her for a minute.* All i heard was our hostess say "I Know I know!!" whith a huge smile on her face!* I thought was a little fishy...so my brain starts working in over drive and I'm thinking....OMG maybe he is proposing on this trip!!!!* So the whole meal I'm thinking...is he? isn't he?So all the characters come around and nothing yet.* We both went up to the buffet and he went back to the table before me.* When I was walking back I see him digging through his back pack and of course I think... he must be looking for the ring!!!To my great dissapointment he was just pulling out his baggie of fish oil pills to take before dinner...lol he's a bit of a health and fitness freak! So now I've completely gotten my hopes up...So we are about to pay the bill and all of the wait staff sneaks up behind me and puts a beautiful flower arrangement on the table and says that it's a compliment from the chef.** He ordered a really pretty flower arrangement from the Disney Florist.* It was a bed of white carnations with pearls and blue ribbons running through it.* On top was Cinderella's glasss slipper with a red rose in it.* In front of the slipper was Cinderella's crown. I ask Brendan what it is and he says to look inside the rose in the glass slipper!* He had teh diamond in the rose!!* The diamond is gorgeous and was exactly what I always dreamed of!* We didn't pick it out together which made it so much better being a surprise!* It's a heart shaped diamond with one diamond on each side.Even though there was not question asked I said yes and gave him a hug!* Then Winnie the Pooh came over to take pictures with us and the manager gave us a complimentry set of mickey bride and groom ears with our "Just Married" pins!* It was so perfect and sweet!!!* I can't wait to start planning our wedding!* We are going to get married close to him with small disney touches incorporated into our wedding!* And of course we will honeymoon in disney so I can wear those ears and my pin proudly! lolI'll post some pictures in my next post!

Hi Everyone,

So I got engaged in Disney September 2nd, just a few months ago and it was the proposal of my dreams. My fiance just realized he has a really bad case of cold feet and isn't ready to get married. Tough thing about it is that everything is planned...dresses bought....we were really quick in finding everything we wanted and I feel humiliated now. I feel like I can never go back to Crystal palace....like it won't be special next time. I told him I don't want the ring until he is sure and I want him to propose again when he's ready. I respect and love him so much but I'm afraid I'll always remember this and won't be excited when he's ready next time. I know he loves me and I love him and I respect him so much for coming to me with this now, but I'm just worried that it will take me a really long time to erase the hurt I'm feeling.
Just needed to vent. Sorry I'm being such a Debbie Downer!

Hey there:hug:

Listen, you are no Debbie Downer. NO matter how much you both love each other, or how honest you both are, that is something that hurts, because like it or not, it makes you question the relationship to a certain extent.

BUT, you can definitely still try and focus on the positive. He obviously cares deeply for you after going through all the trouble to surprise you. The fact that he was this honest with you is so important and it shows that he does value the relationship and wants whatever decision with you involved to be the right one!

YOu go ahead and vent as much as you want, sometimes you need to do that to feel better. And remember that everything happens for a reason...you may very well have more appreciation and love for one another in the end because of this!

Thanks so much. I do respect him more than ever for coming with me. It's just killing me that it's still going to cost us close to $2,000 for a wedding that isn't happening. I just wish I could erase those memories and start new. Next time isn't going to feel as special because it's already happened. I think at some point I'll look back at this and laugh but I don't think that's going to be for a long time.

I do understand that. Although if you both would have gone through with it, it might have ended up costing much more...and maybe not working out in the end???

I doubt that you'll look back at this one day and laugh, but you may look back at it and think "well, it was a learning experience for me, and its taught me to view & do things differently..."

This is hard for you yes, but force yourself to focus on the positive...and maybe you don't see this now, but there is a positive to the situation.

Give it time, patience...and, wait a minute, YOU are not paying all $2,000 right?!?!?!? (lol, sorry, my lightbulb just went on:idea: )

I have to say that if I was you, I would really be lobbying for him to dish that out...or at least give me my share of it back if its already been paid.

What's fair is fair. If you are understanding enough to let him take his space and time, then he should be understanding enough to give you your $$$ back.

Well we talked and I booked a 2010 instead of 2009. Atleast we are not losing out on a wedding and we'll see where we are in a year and if we are ready for 2010. I just wish we were ready at the same time, but I am glad he was honest and didn't just go through the entire year feeling this way.
