Now -
While out at Jamestown.......
I dIdn't know it was the ship Discovery that helped discover the NW passage....

Felt at home on those ships moored there in the harbor -

The approach to the Jamestown harbor was fun to see -

While on board one of the ships,
Had my attention big time watching them open up a cannon port hole as one of them remarked to me that ships do heel while in the water and

its very important to keep those doors shut tight as it was the
Mary rose ship that sank in 1545 due to gun port holes not being closed -



Here, we are learning how not ta get yerself killed onboard the ship by making knots -

Lots of places 2c n c Williamsburg- having fun walking around and seeing all the shops etc
even took a tour of the Gov Palace -

our Tour Guide was very informative

But I will say that I just could not place her. She sounded a lot like Ladybird Johnson.....
So I asked her

Shes a native Virginian

I’m sitting on a outdoors bench (in the shade) in Colonial Williamsburg.... drinking water and people watching / very relaxing

Exiting the governors palace and smelled something I haven’t smelled in years ... marigold flowers....

And a quick funny ... I have had not one but two workers here say, “Have I seen you before ?”

.... too funny as I feel I know the answer but I’m choosing to politely sidestep it so I can continue to see the sights and sounds of Colonial Williamsburg... stay hydrated and u will b ok here IMO

Had a total blast seeing the place -

Anywho -
we are now off for an evening with Sylvia Tabb-Lee.


overall - a really fun adventure seeing the Mid Atlantic.

(The Irish came out in me so with respect to Sylvia, I am choosing to post this rendition of one of the many songs she sang for us)

Wednesday Sept 12th
20% chance scattered showers
( and 80% chance of sun)
Generally cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 81F. Winds light and variable.

Actually got a lot of sleep overnight - which is just fantastic. Feeling fantastic and ready to get a jump on the day.......
BEFORE THE RAIN COMES BACK ....WITH A VENGEANCE TOMORROW.


Today we visit Thomas Jefferson's Monticello:

But on the way to mount Vernon, we’re making a stop in Richmond to see St. John’s church to see where Patrick Henry gave his speech in 1775, “Give me liberty or give me death .”

Ok I get it - way cool - Richmond va named after Richmond (England) and Pocahontas was baptized here Inside the church -

(Heres a few pics of our Tour guide) - very informative as YES, I plan on rewatching HBOs
John Adams mini-series once I return to my Home Country; "REALITY LAND"

Ya know it’s one thing 2 c these places n the hbo series “Jon Adams “ but ....

To see these places IN Person- wowzers!


Ok - onward to see Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello
but before hand, its off for some lunch -
at the Michie tavern -

(IMO, quaint place tucked back in the woods - not bad - great food)

and -

(buffet style - some pretty nice Southern food / made feel quite at home)

We have arrived at Monticello -

So all tumbled out of the Motorcoach and Luke (our Tour Guide) got us out tickets.

Well, I finally got underway after checking out the hotel room -
and they have a really neat IMO looking outdoor shopping mall area; just off on your left as you exit the building - just across from the elevators

and just off on your far is this gem of a place -

There, I "heard" a few tacos calling my name -
at this place --

and -

moseyed on over to a few shops, chatted for a while with some of my fellow travelers while I also relaxed, chilled out and just ... well.... peopled watched.

BUT......
I think I heard someone else call my name -

there, I just had to have this -

which of course, turned into whats known around here as a "black and white"

(vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup) = YUM!!


Slowly made my way back to the hotel and well..... now we are really gonna kick back and reflect a wee bit on what has been one fantab of an adventure - getting schooled where applicable, experiencing a ton of "ah ha" or 'I didnt know that moments"....

BUT..........
now is the time to put all that away fer a bit -


get just a smidge silly over some wine
