Hi everyone-

We leave Thursday for our much anticipated but late planned 10 day Trip. For the first time ever I have really struggled getting ADR's.

Our Cast is myself, DH, DD 5 and DS 2 1/2 and we are not on the dining plan

I was able to secure:

O'hana Character Breakfast
Princess Lunch in Epcott
Boma Dinner
Play House Disney Lunch in MGM (I know not the greatest food but my kids LOVE the Little Einsteins and this is the meal my daughter is looking forward to the most)
Whispering Canyon - Lunch

I am still desperatly trying to reserve LTT for dinner but zero luck! I was hoping to do this early the night of our MVMCP. Any other suggestions for dinner this night or should we just do CS?

OK My questions:

How is WCC lately - specifically lunch. We have always wanted to try here and have NEVER made it. I wanted dinner but could only get a really late ADR so I opted for lunch. Can anyone tell me their lunch experience and what food might be good here.

Then for counter service. We are going to need to do Counter Service in Magic Kingdom and MGM -- suggestions please???? In Animal Kingdom we always did Tusker House but plan to do either FLame Tree or the CS at Yak and Yetti. I would appreciate any opinions!

Thanks so much

Barbara

In MK our favorite counter service restaurant is Columbia Harbour House (near/across from Haunted Mansion). My husband loves their clam chowder and my boys just love to get chicken fingers. We always find a table.

MGM is tough for counter service because we can't all agree, so we go to the Sunset Ranch area across from The Beauty & The Beast show. There are a few different places to get food with a common area with tables. Our boys can get McDs fries and we usually grab a burger or pizza.

I hope someone else has input on this, but about WCC... we've stayed at the Lodge two times now and it never looks completely full at lunch time.

For the counter service at MGM, well, em, well - we just stick with a soft pretzel. The area across from the Beauty and the Beast show would be your best bet, though. Different areas for different foods so it's kind of like a food court. For burgers and fries (and a few other things), the Back Lot Express is OK and then there's the grill back at the exit to the Backstage Tour (where the AFI store is). If nothing else - there's a full bar back there for the adults!

To replace your LTT, I would suggest Crystal Palace. It was great. The food was good, the characters were fun, and the place itself is awesome! It didn't take long to eat there and the service was great. Never had to ask for a refill or anything.

I don't know about WCC because we haven't been there yet.

For your counter service at MK, Cosmic Ray's is my family's favorite. They like the variety that you can get there. (They have chicken fingers, which is always a hit) For MGM, we usually try to hit all the places down Sunset Blvd. There are several different choice, including turkey legs  , salads, pizza, deli sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. Then you can all sit together under the gazebos. Another good option is Toy Story Pizza Planet Arcade. That's quite a bit of fun for the litle ones, but not much variety.

Have a great time!!

On your MGM counter service day, you could also try leaving MGM, catching the boat over to the Beach/Yacht Club and eating at Beaches and Cream, the ice cream soda shop there (does not take ADR's) and then riding the boat back to MGM. It's a short little trip, your kids would enjoy the boat ride. Beaches and Cream has excellent burgers. The place is very small and there may be a line to get in but since it doesn't take ADR's, it's a table service place that might be an option for you.

We usually do plenty of counter service as we are not huge eaters. We love Flame Tree. We like many of the CS places at MK (except Pecos Bills--I think it's as bad as the CS at MGM).

If your heart is set on LTT, I would try calling twice a day and see if anything opens up. I would check twice a day while there too as there are often last minute cancellatins.

I second the vote on Crystal Palace. We just returned from our trip and had a great dinner there. It is buffet style, but has a good variety of choices and desserts.

I don't know about the others as we didn't eat at MGM and I'm not sure what WCC is to tell you the truth. However, I have heard great things about Flame Tree. There is a great little seating area behind the restaurant that you get a nice view of Everest and the character boat comes by quite often so you can wave to them too!

Thanks everyone so far for your suggestions. I have not tried to get Crystal Palae. I could try -- we have eaten there a few times and love it but were hoping to do something different this time around.

I am still hoping someone might be able to tell me how WCC is for lunch?

Thanks,
Barbara

At Magic Kingdom, try the sandwiches at Columbia Harbor House for something different. Sitting upstairs eating a well-prepared sandwich and watching the magic is a lot of fun. :)

At MGM, there aren't really any wonderful options for CS, but you could try the ABC Commissary.
