Drinking is for vacations!

Gonna find out just how many different ways one can serve up a margarita while on this vacation.

ANYWHO -
Going for Marble Slab Creamery this afternoon (at the River Mall) for a milkshake before checking out the River walk cruise.


First tho, gotta check out Mi Terria Restaurant around 10am as I just have that hankering
for some much needed tacos and 'ritas.


Got more goings on - will write later today.



Just a chillin' out now at DFW Airport......
gonna get a small bite to eat here b4 heading out at 7am 4 San Antone.

have a nice view of the Riverwalk just to my left -



The Hotel's swimming pool area -



After a much needed tour of the city via a Hop off Hop On Tour -

It's located on the first floor of the Rivercenter Mall.

Loved it.
I just hope now that the city of San Antonio will do the Alamo area justice when the dust settles in a few more years over the topic of that area being reimagined.

Riverboat cruise.....very relaxing.

Coming into San Antonio airport joke of the day:
Yesterday, as I was going thru TSA & the X-ray machine area, two women TSA agents were there. One pointed at my sweatshirt w/hoodie and said remove it. I did and both of them blushed.

I wryly said to the one who said remove it, 'Well , aren't you glad I wore a t-shirt underneath?"

One said yes, the other said no.


Hmmmm......all well - at least I batted 500.


A few hours earlier in the day, I boogied on over to the Hard Rock Café -

and had a Burger & fries that just couldn't be beat -

their apple cobbler was pretty dang good as well -

YUM!!



ANYWHO -
just got out of Collette's M&G. Very nice.

ANYWHO -
Gots lots 2 say about the topic of How the city of San Antonio is trying to reimagine the Alamo area. IMHO, Martin & Chris (two very nice people who help run this exhibit) have a gem of an exhibit on their hands as I feel the people who run the Alamo need to listen to this organization in seeing how one puts history out for display for all to see.
I mean, look at Independence Hall area in the city of Brotherly love.......

Look at how the Smithsonian area has been done up quite well in Washington , Dc.


Yet - here we are as a State......
history scattered everywhere in the Alamo city in regards to this siege.

and I agree, its about time the shops and such just right in front of the Alamo have been told they have to vacate in one year.


In short, do all of you remember Walt Disney's attitude about all the shops, hotels and such that butted up right against his creation called Disneyland??


Well, same here in regards to the Alamo area. the city needs to do a much better job of presenting history here that means so much to a lot of us Texans.

All right -
I feel I have been respectful of what I posted about this topic since I know there r others locally here in San Antonio who are reading this but from what I can tell, there seems to be quite a difference of opinions on this topic shall we say and I hope the City and San Antonio gets its act together on this topic and do us Texans justice and make us feel proud.

So I am down here in the Hotel Lobby ....

Very nice -
very peace full -

NO ONE AROUND -
just me, X-mas music on in the Lobby background.....


Christmas decorations everywhere -


and....

well......

wudntcha know it -
having issues trying to get pics & video loaded up onto this TR.
(I went from my balcony in my room to the Hotel Lobby hoping I wud get beter speed as I am trying to crop and edit these pics, etc and it is taking FOREVER to get this done as the Hotel has 2 choices for speed.....the free kind of the one ya pay for)


Strangely enuf tho,
not upset -

the view of the room I am in is just FAB!!



So, with that, keep in mind I am gonna give it me best to slug it out with these tech devices Ive got but IMO, looks like wont b able to do it justice this issue until I get back into the DFW area.


Tho, from what I am seeing so far, from the sight and sounds of the Alamo city - it overall still makes me dang proud to be a Texan.

River Boat cruise at night -

(the trees have been all decorated w/X-mas lights and the edges of the Riverwalk area are all lit up with illuminaries.

very nice.



I seem to have an Guardian Angel looking out for me at the La Mansion Hotel as
I see some chocolate chip cookies waiting for me inside my room.


Thank you "Tinker Belle" as you have really put the icing on the cake
on what has been truly a remarkable fun filled day.

DAY TWO

And having fun watching other people's reaction to our State when they are for example from the Northeast and NEVER tasted cheese /queso nachos (they were from New Hampshire). More on this I promise from our visit to the Dude Ranch.

Been having a total blast learning but for the most part having a lot of the holes being filled in on all things Texas history and meeting a lot of nice people in the process.



ANYWHO -
We r heading on over to 'that ranch' & park
followed by a tour of -

(Liked seeing the inside of this plane)

very humbling to see this -

and -

it was like the place was just frozen in time -

the kitchen area and the appliances??

To hear what this place was like on the afternoon of Nov 22 '63 = very emotionally moving.

Learned something new while at the Nimitz museum n Fredericksburg.

Ok. Over in Pearl Harbor Hawaii, They don't have anything on display about the Midget Subs that attacked the USA that day n Dec 1941.

Why?

IMO, its becuz Nimitz has the only one captured on display here in Fredericksburg at his museum. Will write more on this
