Hello:

Are there still 800 #'s for the general public to call wdw. The ones I previously used do not work anymore.

Thanks,

Deb.

Nope. Pulled the replacement one too. Now you have to call them on your dime. Either call on your cell phone when it's free or if you have digital phone from Time Warner, you can call them whenever at 407-939-6244.

they are all gone. cost cutting from one of the most profitable businesses on the face of the earth

The reasoning behind the 800 numbers being turned off was fairly simple...People called it repeatedly asking to talk to Mickey Mouse. I am not kidding....So, which would you rather have...an 800 number and a 30 minute wait?.......or the current number and a 5 mins wait? :)

My understanding is that the 800 numbers were never meant for normal people to use. They were for travel agents only and once they got passed out to the general public they canceled them.

Okay...so provide a free phone number to people they are giving a commission to, but make the people pay they aren't giving a dime to?

I know there are lots of reasons why Disney does not want the general public to have access to a toll-free number...but it still irks me none the less!

Considering how much 800 lines cost (we have them at my office and they account for a lot of money), I'd rather Disney hire more representatives and provide more training.

Its not that expensive to call long distance, and with digital phones being more and more main stream, it really isn't much of a cost for more and more people.

I know, it's pure selfishness on my part -- when I use my cell phone, the call is free but the sound quality is so much worse than using my land line (which we have removed the long distance from). Oh well, who cares...I'm going to WDW !!!

I rather they not make a 800 number available to the general public than pass that expense on to everyone by charging more for something else. I think with most people now long distance calls are not an issue.

Well I still pay a pretty penny for long distance so I wish they still had a toll free number. It especially irks me to pay to sit on hold!

Just an FYI: Universal STILL has an 800 number.

USO also does not have a few dozen hotels and several dozen restaurants to book against.
