My 7 Month Vacation as a WDW Intern: MINI UPDATE 12/10

We'll be there in December too Megan! So maybe we'll see you for Christmas also!!! :santa:

Hey, Megan,
We'll be there in June and again in August (I have a show at the Yacht Club in August, so I'll be working, but I'm still planning to take some "park time"!) Do keep us posted (and I need to see if I can connect you with MY Megan who's also a FGMiT...)

I think a fireworks cruise might be a fun thing to add to your list...

hey Megan, we will be there the first week in sept and I would love to meet you. It was a very big step to take the job at disney, especially telling your parents. Good luck and continue having fun. Don't forget about the fireworks cruises and carriage rides to add to your list.

[I have begun a list of things I would "like" to do when I get back to WDW.

They are in no particular order..as of yet

1. See Cirque Du Solei at DTD (we get 50% off w/our Disney IDs)
2. Stay at GF, Beach Club/Yacht Club, OR AKL (either w/friends or family)
3. Attend the Food and Wine festival
4. Attend MVMSHP
5. Attend MVMCP and all other Xmas events at the parks
6. Eat at CRT (any meal will do)
7. Parasailing on Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon (behind the contemporary and WL)
8. See all of the parades from start to finish (I've seen all the fireworks shows from start to finish)
9. Eat at China and Norway (I'll have finally ate at all the countires throughout my Disney life!)
10. See Wishes from a new spot (I've seen it from in the park, behind the park, at Poly beach, Ohanas, CR, and Cali Grill).

Cool list! I've actually done quite a few of those things even though I didn't get to WDW at all between 1999 and 2006, and then since 2006, we have done just 15 nights of visits over 3 trips. Here are my comments, not that you asked!

1. Cirque-- is wonderful. We went in August 2006 and I still remember it vividly. It was extremely mind-boggling and enchanting.

2. I've stayed at the Beach Club and we LOVE it. Stormalong Bay is so fantastic that we schedule several days just to play there & not go to the parks! I definitely want to stay at AKL someday too.

3. I was there for one day of F&W and didn't get that into it. We just did our usual Epcot things.

4. We went to MNSSHP and loved it. The parade is so cool. We did lots of rides and also got a ton of candy.

5. Haven't done this & not sure I ever will. I can't go in early Dec because the kids have school & I have work. I'm not sure about going in late December because it's more crowded & expensive. Plus my heritage is Jewish so not sure I'd really appreciate all the Christmas trappings. But it seems neat if you actually celebrate Christmas!

6. Haven't done and would like to do.

7. Haven't done and would really like to do.

8. That is an interesting goal. I haven't done this & I think I might add it to my list, so thanks for the idea!

9. The only TS at Epcot I've eaten at is Coral Reef. (Really liked it.) I would like to eat at Akerhaus because I visited the real Norway, also Denmark and Sweden, and I like the food. Plus it's a princess meal!

10. I've only seen Wishes from the park. Would like to see it from Cali Grill someday.

That is a good list and I hope you have lots of fun doing it!

The main thing I want to do that I didn't mention above is visit the waterparks. We've never been to either!

That looks like a great list! I hope you get to do as much of it as possible!

1. I haven't seen Cirque at WDW, but I did see it's traveling show before. I never really cared about seeing it at WDW until I saw the Samantha Brown show where she was trying it and now I REALLY want to see it!

2. Can you stay for just one night with your discount? If you join up with friends maybe you can spend one night at each over the course of your 6 months. The pool at YC/BC really is fantastic.

3. This is totally do-able! I was at F&W Festival at Epcot last October for a weekend and it was SOOOOO crowded! I didn't try anything because the lines were so long and the food was so expensive, but the atmosphere was fun!

4, 5. I haven't been to either of these parties (I have been to P&P) and I'd like to go. I also want to see all the decorations at some point and the Candlelight Processional and the Osbourne Lights.

6. This is on my to-do list too!

7. Errr...this would freak me out! I hope you get to do it though.

8. The AK parade is my current favorite, although I just saw both daytime DLR parades and enjoyed them too. I think this should be one of your easiest tasks from your list to accomplish.

9. I'm so not a foodie. I keep frequenting the same restaurants repeatedly.

10. What other spots are left to view wishes from, anyways?

Other things to do.....explore the resorts grounds in mid-afternoon to get away from all the people. You know, like the hammocks at CBR/CSR, beignets at POFQ, miniature golfing...but those are all "usual" things. I like your unique list.

Hi Megan.

I enjoyed your update. I really am looking forward to finding out where you will be. We are so excited that we might be able to see you while we are there.

Sounds like you had a great weekend. The story you shared about your cousins was really cute.

Hi!! That is great you will be down so much. Sure, you can get me in contact with your FGIT Megan lol. I bet you can't wait to get down there!

Thanks for the reply! It's funny you mention the fireworks cruise bc one of my roommates was a lifeguard at CR and WL and one of her good friends drives the boats for those cruises and he had a cancelation the one night and still wanted to take the boat out and invited us but it stormed 2 hrs before the fireworks and all the cruises were canceled so I didn't get to go, but I would have gone for free :( Maybe we'll have to beg him again to let us go!

What about taking a segway tour?

I checked and we get 50% off segway tours so I'm going to put that on my list for sure. My uncle, aunt, and 2 cousins got to test them for free in Feb when they came to visit but my fam couldn't bc we were heading out to see my CP apt and then were heading back to WL to swim for the afternoon but I would have love to test them out at least...for free of course!

Hi Megan-
I cannot wait to read of your adventures! We will be there in November!
Pam

Thanks! I can't wait to meet everyone!

Thanks for the reply!! I have been to both water parks many times. For my birthday in March, my parents asked what I wanted and well with living at WDW and getting in for free, not needing much money bc I have a job, I asked for 2 things: food gift cards and an annual pass to the water parks. When I arrived for my CP in Jan we got in the water parks for free for about the first 2 months and I LOVED going on my days off when no one else was off to do something with and it became my mini vacation for the day so they bought me a water park pass and sent me a few food gift cards and it was the best thing ever! If you ever get a chance you will have to go, it just totally adds to the whole vacation thing!

lol..I guess my parents have done good things with me throughout the years bc we always seem to visit new hotels each visit we have. I did not have the chance to go mini golfing on my CP but I will have to add that to my list bc we get 50% off. It seems like one of those "duh" things but maybe not? lol.

Thanks for the reply, they are really cute kids and have been then through a lot in their lives between medical issues and food allergies..etc. I'll be very excited if they come this fall..or according to the girls when they come this fall lol.

Hi Dis!

As most of you should know by now, I have currently taken a different path in my road to becoming a teacher. I have finished college, student taught, have my diploma, and took some state board tests yet WDW keeps pulling me away from that...I'm not really sure to what yet. My dad believes he knows what it is but he won't tell me..parents!

Anyways, even though I have taken a different path for the time being, I still have that crafty side to me and some of it came out today!!!

On day #?? of my mini vacation from WDW, I was sitting at my desk thinking what could I do today.
Clean my room? No, it's going to get as clean as it is going to get. SIDE NOTE: My parents owned a ski condo for the past 6 years and decided to sell it this past winter bc of my dad having medical issues and not being able to ski anymore and with me "moving away" they decided it would be better to have the $ to travel depending on where my brother and I end up in life. My room is now filled with stuff since we moved there when I was 3, my dorm things, my condo things, and now some of the things I brought home from FL. If you saw my pics from my CP thread, my room is not at all small yet right now, there is soooo much stuff, its looking smaller and smaller!

Instead of starting a project that would take the next 3 weeks to finish and TONS of garbage bags, I decided to start a project that I started in Jan (and finished).

In Jan before my CP, I decided to make nametags for our apt doors for our bedrooms. I also put together homemade calendars for park hours, EMH, events, and block out dates for our main gate passes.

Today I decided to show my crafty side and start my calendars and door tags!! I am out of stickers bc I used them all in Jan but I did begin the calendars. Because the park hours are only posted till Oct, I could only do so much and then had to quit.

I'll post pictures of them when they are all done. :cool1: :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :yay:

Another update is now that I'm heading back to WDW for at least till Jan and perhaps way longer than that, my family has decided to now (like last time) plan when they are coming down.

My father who "HATES" WDW and refuses to go back every time we go, is the most excited out of everyone..i think so at least :rotfl2:

I can totally say that I am a VERY lucky child. I have been to WDW more times than I can count. We always stay on site at a nice resort and eat at nice places and well..we (my Dbro and I) are very blessed children.

Unlike my CP though, my dad is having issues of when they can go. On my CP they came for 5 days in Feb (DDad, DMom, Dbro..and uncles fam) and then in April just my parents came and they stayed for 4 days.

Now, dad is having issues of when to come bc they want to come a ton but are having scheduling issues. They were going to come in July w/Dbro for 5 days, Oct for a long weekend w/o Dbro, and in late Dec/early Jan with Dbro and drive.

Now they think its stupid to go in July bc I will have just been home, Dbro works for the Steelers as an Intern in aug so they cant then bc dad wants to go down to Steeler camp every weekend. Sept Dbro starts school and dad has board meetings, Oct could work over Dbros fall break, Nov perhaps over thanksgiving, and Dec, maybe if we can get a cheap resort room(s). It seems that Oct Nov and Dec work but they want to come more than once and more spread out or something like that, I dunno haha. My reponse to them was I'll be there and it's your money, you let me know when I have to book resort rooms lol.

Anyone have advice for me to tell them? I think they have narrowed it to coming twice, once with Dbro and once without maybe? Driving maybe in dec in case I have to move and flying one time.

Moving on....

Thanks for all the replies for my To-Do list. I have added to it:
--Segway tour, we get 50% off!
--Vero Beach Resort, we get 50% off hotels even at the beach!
--Mini Golfing on property, we get 50% off!

The last thing my dad said to me before he dropped me off in Jan was "I don't care if you don't come home with a dime but make sure you make enough to pay rent, put gas in the car, eat, and have the time of your life with the rest of the money."

I can 100% say that I lived it up to a degree as a CP and now that my CP is over and my roommates are all gone..more-so gone, I wished there were things I had done that I didn't do on my CP but at least I can say I have a 2nd chance to live it up...as long as I pay rent, put gas in the car, and eat!!!

Well, I think that is it for now. I'm going to go out tomorrow and get some stickers to finish my calendars. Maybe I will even start cleaning out my room?!!!

Have a great night, I'm off to watch the Pens game..it might as well be the last night bc the Red Wings are killing us like we are a last-place team :(

Take Care!!

*Megan*

Since you asked for an AP to the water parks, does that mean that CPs only get free access to the water parks sometimes? Just wondering! :thumbsup2

yes..when the parks are the least crowded is when they allow CMs..not just CPs but all CMs go to the water parks for free. I think it is also based on the weather too. There were a few days in Jan when it would be in the mid/high 70s but the other 1/2 of the time it was in the 60s which is why they allow CMs to go to the water parks bc of the weather and the smaller crowds. I'm sure it will be that way this fall..maybe between like Sept and Oct?

Can't wait to see the calendars you made!

What an awesome Dad you have and I bet he's a closet Disney freak, he just doesn't want to admit it ;)! (it's just too bad he's a Steelers fan. :rotfl2: J/K, but my hubby's a Browns fan  , so I have to rib a little) Have fun with those calendars...can't wait to see them!

We'll be there in June and it would be fun to meet you in AK. My kids would be so impressed I knew a CM:thumbsup2

glad to see (read):rotfl: you again !!! I look forward to more because u are such a fun read! Keep it up, we will look for u in Nov.:goodvibes

I can't wait to see your projects when you finish them. They sound really neat.

I also agree that your dad is great for what he said to you. This is a great opportunity and you should just live it up. It is great that he gave you permission to do so.

When do you leave again?

joining you for this report. Still kicking myself that I did not know about the CP when I was in college or just out of college. Too late now...I will just have to settle for Disney trips and brainwash my kids into Disney so they can do a CP someday.

Edited to add: F&W festival is awesome...though we did not really enjoy much food because we ate at Le Celliar before hand so we were not hungry...just took part of the drinks of the world...pretty cool!

I hope things are going well at WDW. I LOVE Casey's..not as much as Columbia Harbour House but they have awesome hot dogs..We'll have to go to the parks when I get my new ID..my old one expired on 5/16 :(

It is, thank you.:)

Definitely!!

Well..that is it for now! If you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

Great list! I have a list of my own for this summer. And seeing Cirque before June ends, and staying at AKL (I am in Aug) are on the list.
