I stayed at Saratoga Springs Resort for the first time in March.
We were in the Paddocks right next to the bridge and the pool. Room was great- clean, comfortable, location.
We loved it so much we bought into DVC for that property right then and there.
We went back this past weekend (July26th-30th) and had a very different time.
We were, again, put in the Paddocks, but on the complete opposite side of the first stay. (We used the Carousal bus stop because it was closer then the Paddocks bus stop).
I requested to be near a pool- that was it. Didn't care what part of the resort we were at, just near a pool since we were there to enjoy the resort over the parks this trip. We were not at all near a pool.
Though we didn't care for the location, that wasn't the kill joy for us.
The sofa sleeper was so bad it would have been more comfortable on the floor. We weren't expecting it to be like a mattress or anything, but there was no padding left in what was there. The bar was in your back and it bowed so bad in the middle we had to put the sofa cushions under the legs to bring it up straight! We called for egg crates and then had to call again for more just to make it bearable.
We ended up calling in the morning to change rooms because we got no sleep and had stiff backs (I volunteered to sleep on the sofa sleeper because nothing ever bothers me!).
They moved us to Springs, great spot. We were happy to be closer to the main features of the resort and the main pool.
We brought our egg crates with us from the other room just incase, but as long as it wasn't broken (it wasn't) it was an improvement.
We walked in the second room and BAM! Hit with the strongest, most overpowering smell of cleaning product (either clorox or bleach- whatever they use). I mean, HOLY COW. We opened up the sliding glass doors to air things out and unpacked again. After an hour, we decided to go try the restaurant. We closed up and turned the air on. When we came back- the smell was no better, the room was DRIPPING in condensation (even the TV screen was wet) and mixed in with the clorox smell was a wet musty smell. My guess was mold somewhere, but I don't want to assume when i don't know for sure.
It was like that for the rest of our stay, things were wet and cool (air conditioning) or wet and humid (tried having doors open and fan on). No in-between.
One last complaint-
The lights in the bathroom are energy saving lights so they took a few minutes to "heat up" and brighten things. The bathroom is not the place to have those kind of bulbs because there are no windows--- there is no other source of light. Waiting for the lights to LIGHT UP the room while trying to use the toilet or shower is not fun.

and can't wait. We stayed in the Grandstand, which is a bit newer, last October, and that's where my BFF and I requested this trip. If that had been my DH, he would have kept requesting to move until the room was to his satisfaction - we usually stay for two weeks, so he wants to be happy with where we spend a lot of our time. Hopefully your next trip is better, maybe you could try another DVC resort. We change every year just for something different - our favourite is Old Key West, but only if it's a one bedroom or larger.
That's too bad you didn't have a good experience this time around in SSR... We have always had a great stay there. I wouldn't give up on it though! I think it's a great resort!
