Here’s Part 3 of my dining reviews! As you know this was my first trip to WDW and it was a fantastic one. I can’t wait to go back and have fun (and eat even more delicious food!)!! It was me (19), my mom (51), and my dad (52). This particular review is really long so I just included it and will continue with the rest later today and tomorrow. :wizard:

Restaurant Akershus:
My family had a PS for 5:00 pm here. My dad and I are always excited to try something new and Norwegian food sounded really interesting to both of us. Our server explained how the buffet worked to us. We could get our cold items from the buffet and we could order as many hot items as we wanted. She told us that the hot items were small so that we would be able to try more than one. I noticed on the menu for the hot items that they were different from the items on the menu placed on the outside of the restaurant. The cold buffet had different kinds of breads, cheeses, tomato salad, cucumber salad, potato salad, different kinds of meats, chicken salad, beets, salad and various types of dressings, fish, lefse, and many other items. I don’t like fish very much but there was some much for me to eat. I tried the different kinds of breads, I’m not sure what they were but they were very good. I also tasted Muenster cheese which was so creamy and was my favorite. I tried the Julesburg cheese which was good; it seemed to have more of a sharp taste like Swiss cheese. It was my mom’s favorite. Our server asked us if we tried any of the goat cheese and I told her that I had tasted it before and liked it. She told me that she loved it and many people were afraid to try it because the goat cheese looked different. The chicken salad tasted funny but my mom really enjoyed it. We all really enjoyed the potato salad which I think was made with different kinds of potatoes. My mom and I had some of the beets which were one of my favorite things. The flavor of the beets was VERY good, much better than I expected them to be. The tomato salad was SO good; it was one of my favorites. It had a vinaigrette on it and also had basil on it. My mom and I loved it so much and we just made something like it yesterday because we loved it soooo much! My mom tried the cucumber salad and talks about how great it was still. I didn’t try any because I don’t really like cucumbers much. My dad tried all different kinds of fish. He had the herring which he loved. My dad also tried the lefse which was strange because it was cold and didn’t have any butter or sugar or cinnamon on it. Our server told us that she found it strange because they usually eat it hot with butter, cinnamon, and sugar. She told us that they always eat it after dinner with coffee. I loved our server so much because she was really interested in telling us about her culture and was extremely friendly. Now onto the hot items, I decided on the Fettuccine which had a Sun Dried Tomato Pesto and slices on crispy chicken on top. This dish was SO delicious! The chicken was moist and crispy at the same time.. My mom got the Poached Cod which came on top of mashed potatoes and it had salmon and shrimp around it and a sauce. She said it was one of her favorite things she had eaten. Now she is talking about how she also wants to go back to WDW to have more of the cod at Restaurant Akershus as well as the steak at Le Cellier! I’m not a big fish fan and the cod looked VERY good. My dad ordered the Venison Stew which came in a Lingonberry Demi Glace and Drop Biscuits. It looked really tasty and my dad loved it a lot. He liked the drop biscuits especially and says that it was one of his favorite meals he ate at WDW. My mom and dad got another dish but I was saving room for dessert! I can’t remember exactly the second dish my dad tried but it was somewhat like meatballs but they were more flat. He loved the dish. My mom decided on the dish that I had gotten earlier. For dessert we decided on the berry tart. They were really small so you could order more than one. The crust of the tart was so flakey and on top of the crust was the custard (which is also used inside the school bread) and fresh berries on top with sugar sprinkled on top! This was definitely one of my favorites. The veiled maiden sounds so simple but it was so delicious as well. We also decided on the veiled maiden which was applesauce, then whip cream, and sweetened bread crumbs. My family was definitely pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. I know a lot of people are afraid to try it because it sounds strange but I highly recommend it and I don’t even really like fish. This was one of my favorites and I can’t wait to go back!

This review was really long so I’ll include the others later. Still to come: 50’s Prime Time, Cinderella’s Royal Table, and Chef Mickey’s!!! :cool1:

We used to love this restaurant for lunch (which they no longer offer :( ).

I'm really enjoying your reviews! Your restaurant choices are similar to our picks when we go in March 05, so I'm paying very close attention to your detailed reports!!!

Restaurant Akershus is my DH's fave, though we haven't been since 2001. Glad to know that it's still as good as I remember it.

MinnieM21: I noticed that you're from the Disneyland location...we're yearly DL visitors but decided to stray off the path in 2005 to go to WDW. However, my DH is a little disappointed that he won't get his Blue Bayou montecristo fix. From your recent dining adventures, do you know if there is a montecristo sandwich (similar to the one at Blue Bayou at DL) at WDW?

Hey there! We're yearly DL visitors too but decided to give WDW a try also. I love the montecristo sandwich at the Blue Bayou like your DH. I haven't seen a sandwich like that of the Blue Bayou's anywhere in WDW which I was a little disappointed by since I LOVE the sandwich at the Blue Bayou. I'm pretty sure there isn't one anywhere in WDW either that's like it which made me a little sad. They're SO yummy! Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful trip at WDW! :D

I'm guessing that either I missed something. We were there for dinner on Dec 11th and I don't remember the Chicken or Cod.

We had Braised Lamb, Venison Stew, Shicaca (that's how it's pronounced, I can't spell it) That was the 3 flat meatball dish.

We enjoyed all of it and the cold buffet is great. All of those salads! and the cheeses (I thought the goat cheese was very good)

Next time we are getting the dessert sampler !

We were there on the 12th and I think they had just changed the menu (they added a few items I think) because the menu on the outside of the restaurant was different from the menu we got inside.
