MVMCP with Preschoolers Question

So we are taking 4 kids ages 15,13, 4 and 2 to MVMCP on Sunday, 11/27/16. My initial plan was to view the first parade, but now that I'm reading more about it, it sounds like it can get extremely crowded. Is it ever possible to secure a spot for the first parade that the kids will actually be able to see? We will have a double stroller with us also which will probably make it more difficult. I'm asking because I was able to get a CRT reservation for 8pm. If there is no chance of us getting a spot to view the parade, we could do our CRT dinner this night. I know this isn't generally recommended.....but would it work for our family? The parade looks absolutely fantastic, but I'm trying to think of which would be more special for the kids...

At 7:10 last year we got a second row spot on Main Street near the circle with 2 double strollers (first week of December party). The family in front of us was amazing and offered to let our two big kids sit basically with their kids. We left the 2 2 year olds in the stroller so they could see that way. We did not check frontier land but I bet it would have been much easier over there.

So if the parade started in Frontierland, it would have probably been at least 8:30pm by the time it got to Main Street.... how did they do with waiting an hour or so? We're from PA and have season passes to Sesame Place, so I know my little ones can wait about a half hour for the parade there, but that's with a little room to run around and play with bubble guns.

We went to MVMCP when my kids were 3 and 5, and the parade was, by far, the highlight of the party for them. We did the early parade. I know my kids wouldn't have been as in to it for the later parade because they were exhausted by that time. We had 4 adults in our group, so we were able to divide and conquer to hold a spot on the curb on Main Street for the parade while not making the kids actually sit there and wait the whole time. Around 6:00, one adult got in line to meet the Seven Dwarves, one adult headed to Main Street to stake out some curb space for the parade (using beach towels and parking the stroller to hold the spot), and one adult took the kids to get a quick service dinner. After the kids had dinner, they joined the Seven Dwarves line. Many families seemed to be doing this (having one adult hold spot in line for entire family), so no one seemed to have a problem with this at all. After meeting Seven Dwarves, we did a potty break, grabbed hot cocoa and cookies and joined the last adult waiting on Main Street. Our kids did fine hanging out there until parade time. They drank their cocoa, played in the "snow", and I believe we even popped over to meet the princesses with their princes in Town Square theater. We watched the castle lighting and stage show from there too. Once the parade was over, we'd checked off all of our "must-dos" for the party and were able to relax and just ride rides until we got tired and went back to room.

All that being said, if you have at least one person in your party willing to grab a spot on the curb early, you will be fine. Let them have the stroller to help hold the spot.

I personally would not do CRT during MVMCP as you can do that anytime.

We sent both dads and the grandma to Main Street with the strollers. And my friend and I took the kids to get hot chocolate and cookies. We were fine not having a parade spot for ourselves if there wasn't one (or we would switch with our husbands). We had planned on just putting all the kids in the stroller if necessary to watch. There wasn't room for a third row of people behind the strollers so we ended up being fine.

That is a great idea and I don't know why I didn't think of splitting up. We will do that. Thanks so much!!!

Great idea. I'm so glad I posted because it never even crossed my mind to split up. I'm sure I could let Dad and DS15 hold our spot while my niece and I take the kids for a walk or something.
