If we have PS reservations at 5:40 at Tony's before the MVMCP at 7PM will we need to use our park hopper passes as well as our tickets to the party? Also, is a 5:40 reservation too late?

No park hopper needed and that is a good time to be done before the party starts.

I agree. Just wanted to add that you may enter the MK as early as 4 pm with just your MVMCP ticket.

We plan on doing the same thing. I am going to try to get CRT earlt for our party on the 5th. Now, lets see when I can get through....
