MVMCP for adults only. Worth the extra$?

I know it's super early, but my friend and I are going to Disney in early Dec.
This is our first trip without our families. Neither one of us has ever done MVMCP so we don't know if it's worth spending the extra money on. Is it SO geared towards kids that the average adult would be bored?

TIA

Excellent question!

I will say that I enjoyed MVMCP more in 2003, 2004 and 2005 than in 2006 and 2007.

Part of it could be that I had attended MVMCP several times by 2006 and 2007--and I was in severe pain in 2007, having sustained an injury two days prior to departure for WDW. Really should have cancelled that rip!

In the earlier years, there was more entertainment--different types of music (not just the carollers, which I enjoy) and acts that were entertaining without being age-specific, for the most part. I'm guessing they were contracted and later considered an unwanted expense.

The varying entertainment was replaced with dance parties in various locations throughout MK, primarily for the younger WDW visitors, although everyone is invited to participate. Not quite my thing! *LOL*

There still is a lot to do, including special holiday shows, although I believe there have been some additional changes since we visited WDW in December 2007. And it's an opportunity to ride/see some of the more popular attractions with smaller crowds--especially if the weather turns wicked cold! A lot of people leave early when that happens. Not all of the attractions are open during MVMCP, and food options are limited.

Is it worth the cost of the ticket? If you're attending strictly for the regular attractions, probably not. But if you enjoy the holiday atmosphere and special programs, it might be.

It might be a good idea to look at programs from the past two years to see if anything sounds particularly good to you and your friend.

There is a special parade, fireworks, and a stage show that are only done during the parties and Christmas week. There are also a lot of characters that aren't seen at regular times (if you are into pictures with characters). Mid week the first full week of Dec will have lower crowds at the party.

I last went to a MVMCP in 2006, I've already brought my ticket for my upcoming trip - I'm going solo and can't wait, the atmosphere is the big thing for me :goodvibes

Not going solo now. I decided to buy a ticket so we can have fun after dinner. Think it will be a blast.

Fantastic, we'll definitely have a blast Darcy, although I am a huge chicken when it comes to big rides ..... mind you, after a cocktail or 2 at California Grill I'm sure I'll be fine :rotfl:

Ok, we are going for it! Nov 30 is the date we picked out. It's the date of our arrival. Do tickets sell out? (I hate asking that question, it makes me sound like a newbie tourist). Also, it says you can enter the park at 4pm with your ticket, but can you come in, and say leave at 5:30 and go eat at O'Hana at be admitted again? Does this make sense???

I can answer this question, and the answer is yes you can. You can come and go after your first entry. Have a blast.

Wonderful! Should we buy our tickets now? And are the tickets dated so you can only go a specific night?

Yes, Tickets do sell out very fast. More so on weekends, but they will probably be all sold out 2-3 months out

I enjoy the Halloween party more than the Christmas party, but both can be a great addition to your stay if you factor in that many "extra" hours at MK. Knowing that I'm going to a party, I am able to spend more of the rest of my park days at other parks, because I can get so much more done at the parties. Even when sold out, the lines aren't that long, and especially after the first parade/fireworks so many of the little kids go home that you kind of have the run of the place.

I like going in November, but the park hours are more limited -- although the extra ticket is an expense, I do think you get both easier access to MK, some special entertainment not available at other times, plus one very late evening in a park (MK) in addition to everything else you're doing that week.
