Hello. I just now had a thought that I might want to not take my younger daughter (22 months old) to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I have an older daughter who is 6, and maybe we would have more fun if it were just the two of us. My parents could babysit at the resort. What do you all think? We're going to be at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM for 6 days total. It wouldn't matter to my younger daughter if she didn't go to MVMCP would it? And come to think of it, won't she fall asleep in the middle of it anyway?

If it's a bad idea, let me know, and why. I just happen to think this would be a cool time for me and my older daughter. She's such a trooper when it comes to sharing me with her little sis. :-)

Thanks all you helpful parents!

You know, I think that is a nice idea! I think it depends upon how late your 22 month old can stay up and be happy. My youngest was 22 months old for last year's MVMCP, and she was up and happy until we got on the bus back to the resort! She's a night owl.

I am all for a little special time for the older sister....being an oldest sister myself. :)

I think it's a great idea! We're dragging poor Russ and I don't expect him to make it much past 9. And we'll continue to push his sleeping body around until we're ready to go. ;) Which really doesn't sound like a ton of fun, but everyone wants to go to the party instead of babysit!

I say do whatever makes you happier. On our last trip we took our 23 month old to the halloween party, she slept almost the whole time but it was free for her so it wasn't like money wasted. On this trip we will have a 11 month old who will also probably sleep the whole time but again no money lost so it doesn't really matter. If I had a family member who could stay at the resort with her I would probably take advantage of it to avoid pushing the stroller around in the crowds of people.

Yeah, I'm thinking "avoid stroller pushing" may be cool. :-) Thanks for the replies. Unless anyone gives me some hard evidence against my decision, I think I've decided to "ditch the dodo." I'm only kidding! I mean, leave her with my mom and dad. LOL. Ditch the dodo... what was I thinking? I love her to pieces! She looks just like her dad, and well, while he's off fighting this @$#!%* (stupid) war, I get to see his face every day... a little version of him in the female form... so cute.

I think going with your older daughter sounds like a lot of fun. It will be great for the two of you. Your younger daughter won't miss it, and may enjoy the down time from the trip.

Have a great time! My mom has offered to take my daughter back to the hotel when we go, and it's on the three of us. I just think it will be nice for me to now have the stroller for ahile, even if I will be alone.

If grand parents do not mind missing the party, i think that is a great idea!! At 2, my DS could not have stayed awake for MVMCP and while we loved the party, it is crowded and a lot of shows might be hard for the little one to see. I am sure with DH gone, shared attention has been pretty much the norm for your older child. A night out with mom sounds wonderful!!!!!!!!

My daughter will be 22 mo old when we go also. I decided a long time ago that since her normal bedtime is 8:00pm, I'm just going to stay back at the hotel with her and let my hubby and 2 other girls go without us. Although I really want to go, I don't think it would be worth it for her to be tired and grouchy staying up that late. She doesn't sleep well in the stroller.
