Must your tickets be "in-hand" to book FP+ at 60 days?

Can't seem to find the definitive answer. We booked room-only and I have my confirmation linked to MDE. I have received my booklet in the mail that tells me when I can book FP+ (60 days). I have not yet purchased my tickets.

A. Can I purchase them on disneyworld.com and link them to MDE using a confirmation number?

B. Similarly, is it necessary to have them come to us in the mail prior to linking them to MDE?

Thanks!

You don't need to have them in hand to book fp+. They'll give you a confirmation code online and our linked automatically. It was really was really easy.

As DisDreamsAshley said, the confirmation number is good enough to get them linked to your MDE account so you can book FP+ selections. However, they are not REAL tickets yet ... you must still get your actual tickets for park admission. But since you don't need them for park admission, it's totally up to you if you want them mailed or will call.

Just be careful, if you choose the mail option, you have to wait till you get the actual ticket in hand to link it to MDE.

If you choose will call, you can enter the confirmation code in the email and it will link your purchase to MDE.

Great y'all! Thanks!

See. I knew there was a catch. Thank you!

So if you're staying onsite but are buying Undercover Tourist tickets then you must have them purchased 60 days prior to select your FP+ options, correct?
Thanks.

So, what if I decide closer to our trip, say 30 days out, that we are not going to be able to go (my cancellation for room is 5 days)? If I have these tickets linked to MDE and FP+ selected, will my tickets expire if I never go into a park? In the old system unused tickets don't expire. Is that the same for tickets which have FP+ selections but have not been used at a turnstile?

Thanks!

I bought tickets from Disney last week. Before you check out, I had to assign the ticket to who was going to use it (I could change it later if needs be). I had them mailed to me - and the next day (well before they arrived at my door) the tickets were linked to the people's account and I could make FP+ arrangements.

Now on MDE, I could see all my friend's accounts, and could make plans for them, so I was able to link (or assign) the ticket to anyone in my friends and family list, so make sure you are all set with that before you go to buy the tickets.

I specifically got them from Disney as opposed to Undercover Tourist for this reason - I had to get them on MDE for FP+ and couldn't wait, and had done this before. Paid a little more money at Disney, but was willing to to get the FP+ window right at 60 days.

Good Luck!

As it turns out we are doing 1 or 2 park days, so UT wouldn't really save me money anyway. I will remember this for the future though. Thanks.
