We don't really want to rent car just to drive to and from John Wayne airport and then pay for parking at GCH but we have to try In N Out Burger. Will any of the Shuttle Services to / from John Wayne Airport stop on way? Any other ideas?

Thx

Take a cab and ask the driver to make a stop on the way to the hotel.
The In and Out isn't too far to swing by. We feel it's too far to walk though.

Makes me hungry.....

You can also do a private shuttle or town car. It's easy to tip people in private shuttles.

You could rent a compact car in Downtown Disney from Alamo and make an afternoon trip to in-and-out then on to the beach or something....They rent them right there at the end of downtown disney by Disneyland hotel, and they run with taxes between 42.00-50.00 for a 24 period, I am sure if you watch the specials you could even get it a bit cheaper...

Thx for all the good ideas. I hear parking at GCH is $25 per day alone so renting for day may be good option.

Is In N Out worth the trip?

A shuttle with other passengers generally won't. A shuttle where the driver is scheduled to take you from Point A to Point B only won't. A cab will and a shuttle with a flexible route and no other passengers might.

We like In n Out but I don't see it as being a big enough deal to make the extra effort. It's a good fast food hamburger, but it's still a fast food hamburger. I'm often unwilling to go the extra 10 blocks out of my way to get In n Out instead of something else in our neighborhood.

Self Parking is $15.

Renting a car just to go to In and Out, I don't know. Going to In and Out and then other things like ValCopen suggests, good idea. Beach or shopping.

You can also walk across the resort and take the OCTA bus north to the intersection with Orangthorpe. There is an In and Out near the NE corner of the intersection, and a character warhouse at the SE corner. This is the closest In and Out to DLR. The bus stops nearly in front of it. The return bus is near the SW corner of the intersection.

I have an idea for you...hop on the city bus just outside of DLR and head over the highway and there is an In'N'Out burger something like a 10 minute bus ride away

That is exactly what we did and it was great. Straight shot, easy-peasy! You are even closer to the bus stop then we were (we had to walk back towards DLR as we stay @ Hojo). The bus stops right by the restaurant and you just cross the road to get a bus back!:dance3:

I made my first trip to Cali. Last year and was told I MUST go to In n Out. So I did. And as I sat there eating my burger, I tried to figure out why this was a must stop. It was good, but no better than any other fast food burger. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, and absolutely wouldn't rent a car to get there.

Is that the In'n'Out that is near the big Toys r us store?

IMO IN and Out is not worth the trouble. Being from Texas they have nothing on Whataburger and their fries are always undercooked when I have eaten there.

I wouldn't spend $50 to rent a car just to go have a burger. Just can't justify that. If you bundle the In n Out trip with other stuff, it could be worth it. Indeed, it's a really great burger and fries. But with this much anticipation I have a feeling you will be somewhat disappointed. Unless of course you don't have any good burger joints in your town/city.

I totally agree that I wouldn't spend $$ on a rental car for In'N'Out burger. It is good and fresh but not out of this world.:lovestruc

It is not greasy. The fries are crispy. popcorn::

We always stop here when we are in CA, just because it is only a short bus ride from Hojo and it is cheap on the pocket book...plus, it gives us a "vacation" from the DLR hurly-burly:thumbsup2

You can order your fries well-done if you want. They turn out almost a bit like potato chips. They were SO GOOD but probably one of the worst foods in the entire world, health-wise.

I like In and Out Burger...I wouldn't go out of my way, but then, there is one on my way home from work, so I'm not the best judge. If you're figuring to go out on an outing that day anyway, I think it would be a good place for lunch/supper. I don't know about going JUST to get their food.

Yes, that is the one near the Harbor and Orangethorpe intersection.

Fabulous, thanks :goodvibes We took a taxi from GCH last time as my DS wanted to go to toys r us and we stumbled across In'N'Out burger and had our first taste. Next trip we will take the bus, that sounds easy :thumbsup2

Being a native Californian, I can also eat In and Out whenever I want to. I actually eat it about once a year. This is all part of my evil plan to avoid becoming Pooh-Sized--which unfortunately I have found is a daily battle. It is really unfortunate! I wish I could eat In and Out every day. It has it's reputatation for a reason--it is so yummy! But at the same time, I would see any obsticles in my path (bus riding, car renting, shuttle stopping) as a sign that I should just keep on moving and not stop to eat at In and Out. Your experience may vary.:goodvibes

Bus sounds like great option. We obviously wouldn't rent a car only to get burger but still good option if we do day outside of parks. I'm a huge Conan O'Brien fan so if we can get tics maybe I can get a burger and then go see CoCo !!

Don't forget to order the burger Animal Style....with both grilled and raw onions. YUM. Or get the 4x4. Or get the fries animal style. MMMM....I already had dinner in the oven but maybe I'll stop by later and get some fries.

BTW----I was lucky enough to get Conan tickets last fall. You have to request them pretty far out...I would say about 2 months in advance. You also have to write in your request why you like Conan. I wrote a pretty good paragraph and got tickets. Their staff is super nice. I ended up having to give the tickets back since I was super sick and couldn't go all the way up to Burbank that day :headache: Will try again next time.

Truthfully, I don't think it's worth it...I've had better burgers at other places, but if it were me, I would probably just take the bus as suggested here. We like Five Guys better. (Not sure if there is one around there.)
