so i just had a chat w. a Disney cast member asking a few questions..

one important question was the specifics on free dining. he stated we MUST buy park admission tix w our package from Disney to qualify for free dining.. we were planning on getting ours via ur work for a deal ( cheaper and a few days free on them )

has anyone done this.. bought tix outside of disney and were able to get the free dining.. i figured once your park tix are on your magic account ( forget what its called ) that you have tix and they wont know specifically where they were acquired from.. i mean what if they were a gift.. or won in a raffle.. someone somewhere paid disney for the tix ya know.. they arent getting ripped off..

any insight? thanks

im still working out the math but i want to do it the cheapest best most effective way for us to have the vacation

The CM is correct because to get free dining you have to book a package. In order to take advantage of a free dining offer you must purchase a minimum of 2 day tickets for everyone 3 years and older in the room, a minimum 3 night stay and room at rack rate.

You are correct that you can buy tickets elsewhere and use them on your trip. Disney won't question which tickets you use at the gate. You can save the free dining tickets for a future trip or give them away as long as they are unused. Many who have Annual Passes, but want to take advantage of free dining will use the package tickets towards their AP renewals.

A requirement to free dining is a minimum 2 day ticket purchase within the package. The chat CM was correct. It's not the same thing as attaching tickets to your MDE account and having a room only reservation.

The tickets, dining, and resort all need to be on the same reservation in the bundle to qualify for free dining.

The only free dining packages are by booking a free dining 'magic your way package.' As PP stated, there's a 2-day minimum.

It's not even enough to buy your ticket through Disney, it has to be a package.

oooook :( thanks guys..

2nd thought.. do people ( or is it even allowed ) to sell admission tix online?? like ebay or stub hub or other sites?? i could do that as a 2nd option..

Do you really think you could sell the tickets for more than the discounted ones you could buy through work? That's just one of the costs of "free" dining.

I believe the tickets are not transferable.

No idea. Just brain storming..

The minimum 2-day tickets can be removed from MDE and put on plastic ticket media cards. Do this at Guest Relations at a park gate or DTD. Since the tickets are unused they are legally allowed to be sold or transferred.

You could just hold onto the 2 day tickets for a future visit. If you don't use them, they're good forever. It's only after you use them that they're only good for 14 days. If you decide to go back in 3 years, you can still use those 2 day tickets you purchased to get free dining. If you want to stay longer than the 2 days, you can go to Guest Relations and add days then to visit more parks.

There's no way around buying the 2 day tickets if you want free dining. You can't get free dining without buying those tickets.

But you could save them, if you ever want to return. If you don't want to return then you should decide which would be the better bargain for you, the free dining or the discounted tickets.

We had already purchased five days of tickets from a discount broker when we decided we wanted to move onsite and use "free dining". I did have to add two days because I had to have a package.

For us it wasn't a huge deal because we had lengthened our trip and were going to add days anyway, but also because we plan on going next year. So what we decided to do (with help from this board) is use the original 5 day pass on the first day, then upgrade them to 8 day passes, and we are saving our 2 day passes for next year. It won't cost as much to upgrade from 2 to whatever as it would be to buy all new. And we aren't planning on a dining plan next year, so we won't have a package.

Yes but to be frank you have to be really silly to buy park passes from someplace other than an authorized ticket seller. There is no way to prove how many days are on the tickets. The person buying the tickets has to trust that they are valid and have days on them. That is a lot to ask.
