i'd recommend Ryan Adams. he's sort of alternative-country but some of his earlier albums are closer to the rock end, others more of the country roots.. so definitely give him a listen.
The Avett Brothers also might be something you're interested in, again country and folky, lovely sounding and a band that have grown on me.
if you like TAB, maybe then Mumford & Sons, a folk inspired band from the UK who've really got big over the past year. Of course, folky music like that isn't to everyone and I know Mumford & Sons aren't to everyone's tastes.
