Mummy... Med-Jai Symbol???

Would you buy a Mummy Med-Jai medallion?

  • Of course! I'm caught up in the hype and need to be protected from the curse too!!!

  • Nah, it's good enough just to ride the Mummy. I don't need another souveneir.

  • I'm not sure.

Well, I've ridden the Mummy a total of 16 times now... And I really want to know why on earth they don't sell the Med-Jai symbol medallion. I've noticed some ride attendants wear them around their neck, and I could've sworn I heard one say that they sold them as a bag tag type thing. However, anyone I ask tells me that they don't sell them and probably won't. It seems to me that it's not a great idea, I bet they'd be popular.

Anyone heard differently on whether they will be sold? Or if I can find one anywhere else? I even thought ebay would be a sure thing to find one, but no luck there either.

Thanks :p

I've heard rumors that med-jai symbols may be handed out as gifts to passholders on the annual passholder Mummy special events nights. I read this on IOA Central and so I don't know if it's true or not. I think they will probably start selling them in the store soon after grand openings. Maybe they didn't know how popular they would be and had to order some.

What are these? I know, I should know this....;)

nahhh...wouldn't have any use for it....if I got it for free, for being a passholder, cool...but I wouldn't spend my money on it...especially since I go often...a souvineer...why bother?

and Ghostbusters....LOL....just kidding Fly Fly. Thanks!:p

They should NOT be sold, IMO. Why? The average guest would have no idea what it means. If you watch the queue video, then yes, you'd understand that the Med-Jai medallion is your protection against Imhotep. Med-Jai were offered to all the cast and crew, but not everyone wanted it. Brendan Fraser didn't even want one, but he took Reggie's. And we know what happens to Reggie: the curse gets him. Since you, the guest, don't have one, you're subjected to Imhotep's curse & wrath. Selling Med-Jai to the guests would ultimately DESTROY the theming of the attraction.

Looks like someone is selling one on eBay. Sure hope it's not an employee from universal. :( That would not be good.

I e-mailed the seller, letting her(?) know that if she does work for Universal, that she could get fired for selling it and strongly advised her to take the auction down.

Thanks, DM. You are a good man.

I noticed this same seller had sold other things that only Universal employees should have. I'll go edit my post above to remove the link so that I don't unknowingly get someone fired.

I know it would destroy the theme and story, but I would love to have a Med-Jai medallion, and yes, I would buy one. But, thats just coming from me, someone who would also buy a Zelda Rubenstein plush.

DM, I never thought of it that way. Great thinking!

Well, this is your lucky day. They now sell med-jai symbols in the Sahara Traders store (the gift store for the Mummy). My youngest son bought one today and they are $5.95 plus tax.

Here's a picture.

Those things won't protect you from the curse. Those were made in a factory in China. The Med-Jai the employees wear were made by actual descendants of the Med-jai in Egypt. pirate:

Well, there are now two Med-Jai medallions at my house. Both of my sons insisted on getting one. I have to admit, they're kind of cool:cool:
