If you have multiple home resorts with the same use year, does that give you the advantage of being able to combine points from each?

For example, if you have two 100 point contracts at different home resorts with the same use year, can you schedule a 200 point trip using 100 from each?

Thanks!

If the multiple contracts are a Master - Add on combination, then yes. At 7 months you may freely combine points with no problems or extra steps. You have a Master-Add on combination if all of the contracts have one membership number. The Master contract will have a number like XXXXXX and the add ons will have a number like XXXXXX.001, XXXXXX.002, etc.

If you have more than one membership number for the contracts, then it gets a little more complicated. You have to reserve nights from each contract and have MS link them together. You cannot use points from more than one contract for the same night without doing a transfer. For example, if a single night costs 12 points, you can't use 7 points from one contract and 5 from another to make the reservation. You have to transfer points between contracts so that all 12 points are in a single contract. Since you are only allowed one transfer per use year per contract, that would use up your allotment of transfers for both contracts. If the contracts have different use years, then you can only "combine" the points at the 7 month window.

In no case, can you combine points from contracts with different use years to make a reservation at a DVC resort at the 11 month window.

If you want to book in the home resort booking window (from 11 months prior to check in until 7 months plus one day prior to check in) then you must have enough home resort points to cover the reservation. For example if you own both a VWL contract and a BCV contract and want to book BCV in the home resort booking window, only the BCV points can be used. Your VWL points are of no use to you at that point because only BCV points are accepted by MS to book BCV in the home resort window. Once you are within 7 months of check in, any of your points can be used to book any resort subject to availability.

What a lot of us with 100-point add-ons do is use banking and/or borrowing to book one of our home resorts 11 months out every other year.

I thought that if you were transferring between contracts that you owned yourself, this did not count toward your one allowed transfer. Am I incorrect? :confused3

Thanks very much - this is very helpful!

Multiple contracts under one master are not actually transfers. Transfers between separate Master Contracts of a single owner are handled on a case by case basis. Technically you still only have one in OR one out per master but they will sometimes allow multiple and even transfer of banked/borrowed points where applicable. Situations where this might be allowed are to combine points for a single night and to get all points in a given contract for exchange options like DCL.

OK, that makes sense.

Thanks :thumbsup2
