Multiple fastpass possible?

I've been reading the net and found conflicting reports on being able to obtain more than one fastpass in a short period of time.

Normally I realize that I can't get another FP until the return time for my currently held one is past. I have read there are at least 2 ways that it maybe possible to have more than one.

First is if the return time exceeds two hours in which case I can get another FP. Some say this can be done immediatly while others say minimum wait is 45 minutes to get a 2nd. Others says its 4 hour return time, not two that makes this possible. Whats the truth here?

Second is on Rodger Rabbit or Grizzly Rapids because they are not networked to the other rides. I have found at least with GR this is simply not true anymore.

Many times on a moderatly busy day I have gone to Space Mountain at noon with a 45 minute standby line but return FP time of 8pm. Can I get the SM FP and still quickly get another FP for another attraction long before 8pm?

You can get another FP in one of two ways: at the beginning of the "return time" window, or 2 hours after you obtained the first one, whichever one is sooner.

So if you pick up a FP at Space Mountain right at 8 a.m. opening, the return time will likely be at 8:45. At 8:45 you would be able to pick up another FP.

However, if you pick up a FP for Space Mountain at 2 p.m. on a busy day, it might have a return time of, say 9 p.m. In which case you would be able to pick up your next FP at 4 p.m., two hours later from when you picked up the first one. The bottom of the FP always says when the next available FP is, separate from the return time.

This is shown best in Hydroguy's tips thread here, with pictures: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1186052

About "disconnected" FP machines: It used to be that RR in DL and GRR in CA were disconnected from the system, and you could pick up a FP from them, and then pick up one right away for another ride. In the last month or so, unfortunately, GRR has been reconnected.

Also good to know: DL and CA fastpass systems are disconnected from each other... so you can always hop over from one to the other to obtain FPs without stepping on your FP collection schedule for either park.

Also, you're aware of the unofficial Disney policy that you can use the FP anytime from the beginning of the return window until the END of the day? So you can collect FPs all morning, while riding the slower-loading, non-FP rides, then come back in the evening and use a whole fistful of FPs for all the FP rides, right in a row. :thumbsup2 This is also detailed in Hydroguy's tips threads.

Hope that helps! :)

It's hard to predict return times. ;) If you obtained the SM FP at noon, then two hours later the FP with the shortest return time would most likely be Buzz Lightyear or BTMRR.

But that's just a guess, others may have better ideas on that one. ;)

FWIW, in the "Which Fast Pass First?" thread (post #4)(link) in the HydroGuy Tips Compilation, HydroGuy talks about the ideal order to get FPs.

DL

Assume DL opens at 8AM - this is the order you should get your FastPasses in an ideal world. Modify this is as necessary to fit your group, location in the parks, and available time.

1. Space Mtn (get FP @8:10AM - next FP time will be 8:55AM - you can use this FP anytime after 8:55AM)
2. Splash Mtn (get FP @8:55AM - next FP time will be 9:40AM - you can use this FP anytime after 9:40AM)
3. Indiana Jones (get FP @9:40AM - next FP time will be about 10:30AM - you can use this FP anytime after 10:30AM)
4. Buzz Lightyear (get FP @10:30AM - next FP time will be about 11:15AM - you can use this FP anytime after 11:15AM)
5. Big Thunder Mtn RR (get FP @11:15AM - next FP time will be about 12:00PM - you can use this FP anytime after 12:00PM)
6. Autopia (get FP @12:00PM - next FP time will be about 12:45PM - you can use this FP anytime after about 12:45PM)

It really is not that hard to do the above by 2PM as long as you start at 8AM. If you really want to focus as above, you can get one of everything by lunch.

There is one other FP opportunity at DL: Roger Rabbit. Roger Rabbit is not connected to the DL FP system and you can get one anytime you want without conflict with other DL FastPasses.

Further, I no longer get FPs for Autopia after realizing the FP return line can be a 25 minute wait. If I only had one day at DL, I would get an Autopia FP. But if I had multiple days, I would plan Autopia for an early morning thru the standby line.

DCA

Similar logic holds. Here is the ideal order to get FastPasses:

1. Soaring over Ca
2. California Screamin
3. Tower of Terror
4. Mulholland Madness

You can get one when the FP return time passes or 2 hours from the time you last got one with one exception. If you get a FP for SM w/ a return of 8PM, you won't be able to get another one on SM until after 8PM. That's what has happened to me on my all time fav FP ride Indy on every single trip I've taken since 2002 or so. At first this confused me, and I think that's why people think they can't get another one until the FP return time expires. But yes, you can get another one in 2 hours, just not another one on that particular ride until the return time passes. I think this is a safety net to ensure that everyone gets a chance to ride, not just the ones who know how to work the FP system. If you're going at a busy time, go early and start acquiring FP early. Then you don't have to worry about it. Have one person be a runner or "purposeful walker." :lmao:

Just look at the bottom of the FP you get. It will tell you the time when you can get the next one in the same park.

Grizzly has been connected to the rest of DCA recently. Roger still seems disconnected from the rest of DL.
