Multiple ADRs? Surprised this is allowed!

I totally agree here. Disney should send out some generic email if a bunch of ADRs are found, saying something like "our system has detected conflicting ADRs, please call blah" before making assumptions and outright deleting them all. That gives the guest a chance to respond and explain the situation, or simply cancel some. Yeah?

agree

Actually, I think that is a good idea :-) Some people would continue to abuse the system, but I think it would encourage a lot of people to do the right thing and cancel the ADRs they don't need. It would also give people who have "legitimate" multiple ADRs the chance to have it noted in the WDW system.

and agree.

It is not WDW policy to cancel multiple ADR's...any CM who does so is taking it upon himself and that is not right.
It would be fine with me for a CM to "look into it"...as in call the phone number associated with the ADR and find out whether they are both going to be used...but I do not appreciate the CM vigilante who takes it upon himself - against company policy and just deletes them because he "thinks" they are double bookings.
If I remeber correctly, this same CM is the one who said if the people if front of him stop unexpectedly, he is a former line backer and will just continue as an object in motion and is pretty sure he will win the clash....to which I warned that if that person in front of him happens to be my aspergers 8 yr old daughter who suddenly bent down to pick up mickey glitter, he might wind up tripping right over her little body and cracking his head on the pavement.

There are reports that indicate that there is no automatic computerized system that will catch and delete multiple ADRS for the same party at the same time, but individual CMs may do this if they catch the duplicate ADRs. Not guaranteed to happen, but MIGHT happen. And they usually cancel BOTH.

It's usually suggested that if you want to split your party to have different groups eating in different restaurants at the same time, that you make each reservation in a different name and supply a different phone number for each. (Yes, you can do this even if you have linked a resort reservation. The restaurant system neither knows nor cares how many people are on your resort reservation or what their names are. All they want the resort number for is to confirm that you are eligible to book 180 + 10.)

I'm going to move this to our restaurant board.

What about all those people who were also planning their trip and trying to plan out their ADRs around their park touring, but couldn't ever get a reservation at, say, Chef Mickey's? Do you think they are just going to try to go for a walk up? Most of the popular places aren't even going to take walk-ups. It's just plain selfish to hoard up ADRs knowing you aren't going to use some of them!

Blame Disney, they force you to micromanage your entire vacation (if you plan to sit down and eat). It's just plain selfish for Disney to expect anyone to do this, so if they have some sort of loophole in their system, that's on them.

What about people staying off site who do not have reservations in the system. How do random CM's know that these multiple ADR's are not for different parties travelling together. ie: I have 10 people with me...these 4 want to go xxx, and these 2 want to go XXx. At the same time.

So...yeah, I have a real issue if a CM deleted an ADR based on an assumption.

I'm quite sure that if this was/is the case, Rusty would get his rear in a sling if too many people complained. I've seen his posts, I rather doubt he does this.

I never said "He" does. Someone else brought his name up. :)

I bet there's a fair number of people with ADR's at every park on every day. So THOSE would be fairly obvious compared to say.... someone with a double ADR on a given occasion.

1. What about people on the dining plan? Do they have to pay a fee and then get a refund if they show up?

2. What about people who don't have CC's? Are they just outta luck?

3. If you book 6 months out you would have to pay that CC bill way before your ADR and the refund could end up causing a negative balance on your CC that usually takes MONTHS to get back.

I don't see this ever happening.

FWIW I paid for a CRT that we ended up adding DxDDp after the fact and when we got to CRT they offered to refund our money and use dining credits.... so we said sure why not.... took over two months to get our money back (the credit to be processed by Disney) and I had to call several times and ending up dealing with the GM at CRT to finally get it. Wish I'd just left it alone and used the meals elsewhere!!

1. Sure. It's called a deposit. Number of places have a number of reasons for this. So you get a refund after your trip from your total package you booked.
Happens to millions of people every year with their taxes.

2. Not different than it is now with places that require CC deposit.

3. Not a huge amount so that "bill" wouldn't be much different that paying your deposit on your package vacation price anyhow.
You have to pay that off 30 days before you arrive anyhow. So no real difference.

:thumbsup2

maybe a better way to do it would be to take the cc # and not charge the fee til the guest doesn't show up

That would be fine too.

Yeah I've PREPAID my meals already.... I shouldn't have to pay a deposit in addition in order to use that meal I've already prepaid for. If they want a CC on file to charge a small fee for no shows then MAYBE that. But either way.

I'm not quite clear what you mean about paying my vacation in 30 days... :confused3 I'm not getting any money back on my trip so there won't be a credit balance created on my cc (which btw takes Disney 6 weeks to process). Sorry ~ no way would I be okay with that!

Suellen.........

We prepaid CRT once for 5 of us and my son didn't come to the park that day. We thought we'd just have to "eat" the cost of his meal. I was surprised when they offered to put the value of that on a Disney gift card for us. Perhaps that would be a better alternative to getting a refund on the card in in the future. Heck, a Disney gift card is as good as cash to anyone who hangs out on the DIS.......

The way WDW could block it is by making you book your adrs at your 180 plus 10 window by giving your confirmation number (or numbers if your traveling with multiple parties and booking for everyone), then not allowing reservations for more people than you have assigned to those confirmation numbers within a dinner period.

That wouldn't work for people who are staying off site..they don't have reservation numbers.

It would work to some extent because offsite guests can only make one adr per day (180 days from today) - they don't get the plus 10 window. If you presume that the plus 10 window gives an advantage to all onsite guests in that they can book out their entire trip by using the confirmation number. So I can book a popular place that is in day 2 of my trip before an offsite person can book (or more importantly someone pretending to be an offsite person can double book). So my proposed change only wouldn't prevent double booking on your arrival day, but theoretically they could let onsite guests book 181 plus 10 with their confirmation number and that would guarantee you don't get locked out because of double booking if you are making your adrs at day 181.

When I booked two conflicting ressies, just because I wasnt sure which one I wanted right then, (fully intended to cancel one) they (dis dining rep) told me that they do system checks to see if two are booked same day/time and they cancel the earlier one automatically. The only way they dont is if it is noted its a split in a party or you tell them and they note why you have two.
Just my experience!
