Hi!

My family is booked for a 10 day trip to WDW in September 2021. As it stands now we are booked at the Polynesian foregoing our original plan of a 1 bedroom villa at Boulder Ridge. We were thinking of a few non park days and was considering splitting our resort reservation and doing 4 days elsewhere and 6 at Poly. We were thinking Beach Club for the pool. Our son will be almost 3.

anyone ever do a multi resort stay? If so thoughts on your experiences and recommendations of other possible resorts would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

That’s a long enough stay to be worth a split imo. I haven’t done one yet but we will be doing our first on our upcoming trip and have done a lot of research. MK area + Epcot area is a fantastic idea just for convenience to parks.

You might want to get feedback from parents though because I’ve heard a lot of mixed things about toddlers and SAB.

Big Poly fan here. But while I love it, I don't love it enough for 10 full days. :-)

I personally think a Poly and BC or YC split is a great choice. Best of both worlds - part of the trip can be MK focused (and we usually put DAK in this part), the other part can be Epcot/DHS focused and not have to mess with Disney transportation for anything.

You also get two very different resorts/resort vibes - which I think is a good thing. I prefer YC over BC (newer rooms, I prefer the style over BC), but either are a good choice for a Poly split - IMO.

I would say do Poly first then YC/BC, if possible.

That's a good point. We didn't stay at YC/BC until my son was 5 and I remember that first trip he had me running around all over that place. For younger kids, there's 'danger' everywhere and it keeps you on your toes as a parent, for sure.

The sand/beach area can't be beat with the little ones though.

Which 2 hotels are you thinking about doing when you go?

Split stays are a must in our family. We own DVC at BC, and we have also stayed at the Poly, you can't go wrong with either. A couple of thoughts that go into our split stay....

1. We usually try to select our resort based own our park touring schedule. If we plan on going to MK on our schedule, we then try to stay at an MK resort so it's a short ride to the park. If its EPCOT of DHS, then we're usually at BC since we can walk to either.

2. Anything we can do stay off a bus, we'll do it!

3. September is Food and Wine season at EPCOT, definitely worth planning our resort around that event!

4. We also like to spend our first couple of nights at a resort near Disney Springs as we usually don't hit a park on our arrival day. Ideally, we like to stay at POR and take the boat to Disney Springs for a nice dinner, drinks, and shopping.

We do split stays all the time. A split stay between Poly and BC would be awesome!

We usually plan the resort by which parks we will be visiting while staying there.

I would definitely make MK the park of choice while at the Poly.

We stayed at the BC when our kids were little and it was so great to park hop over to Epcot have a nice meal and then stroll back to the resort. The kids also liked walking to HS and seeing if we could beat the boat there. We would ride the boat over too so that is another option. Stormalong Bay is great. Head to Hurricane Hanna's first thing for a kids meal. They come in a sand bucket with a shovel that makes for tons of fun in the sandy areas there.

We have never had any problems doing a split stay. We leave our luggage in the room and when we get the text our next room is ready we head over there to be there when our luggage gets to the room. (I hope they are still doing this for guests.)

Have a great trip!

That sounds like a perfect plan to me; I'd go for it!

But then I am the queen of the split stay and once spent a 5-day trip hopping between 4 resorts.

We are booked at GF and YC for 2 weeks the end of May going into June. But we are a childless adult family so different considerations. Originally it was supposed to be GF/Poly but with the ongoing refurb we decided to stay at an EP resort for the second week. Being able to walk to 3 parks during our trip is going to be huge for us and you absolutely can’t beat the location of any of the Crescent Lake resorts during Epcot festivals. It is so nice to just be able to pop over and enjoy WS when you feel like it or dip when it gets too crowded.

BC is a great resort, I’ve stayed there before for a long weekend getaway and enjoyed it. But they had not announced its reopening when we switched our Poly booking to YC. Funny enough it reopens in my birthday but we decided against it just because we want a guaranteed balcony and after checking out YouTube videos, my gf prefers the layout and more recently refreshed rooms at YC.

I always do split stays. I also usually go for for 10 nights as well. I spend 4 nights at one resort and 3 each at two others. Usually try for one near MK and one near Epcot. For the third it does not matter as much, but sometimes AKL.

Thanks! It’ll be his first time we can’t wait! We were supposed to go for his 2nd bday in Jan but pushed it cause of COVID and work being done at hotels and parks. This is certainly motivating post for us to pull the trigger and do a split stay!

Enjoy the trip and Happy birthday! Appreciate the feed back I think we’re going to go with 6 poly and 4 BC just not sure which one first

Yes, 10 nights is a great length of time for a split stay. I would definitely consider a Poly/EP resort split and plan your park days around that so you can keep travel to a minimum. Poly and BC would be good choices, IMHO.

We loved our Poly/YC split. Enjoyed taking advantage of the proximity to the parks with the respective close hotel. Also kept vacation more fun-using different views and amenities made it more interesting.

Until your toddler throws sand in your face and you realize it is more like ground glass than sand with the oversized sand particles they use there ;)

I hated the deep lazy river too. My toddler was constantly trying to run off and jump in it. And it does not have a splash pad like other disney deluxes.

We definitely felt we want to wait until our kids are all strong swimmers before returning to BC.

Would split with Boardwalk or Riviera if you want to do an Epcot area split

We do split stays all the time and Poly/BC or YC split is our favorite! We are booked for 13 nights at the BC this August but we really want to split our stay with the Poly. We just haven’t pulled the trigger yet because we are waiting to see how the renovations go. We’d be staying at the Poly the second week of August and I want to know it will definitely be open (resort side) before I book there.

I think a Poly/BC or YC split gives you the best of both worlds. You can’t go wrong with either resort. Both resorts are really nice, have fun pools, and being close to three out of the four parks (between the two resorts) is just great!

We did a split stay a few months ago between SSR and BLT. We called bell services the night before the move and set up a time in the morning for them to pick up bags and transfer them to BLT. It was super simple and smooth. We also had EP be our transition day cause it gave us more time to get everything packed and out the door and still make it on time for rope drop. I liked the split stay but it did make the vacation seem to go faster and I never felt like I could just unpack and settle in. But we did 3 nights and then 4 nights so less time than what you are looking at doing.
