I have a question about the refillable mugs...if I buy it at CBR(where we're staying for our next trip) and we do some resort touring at Poly, am I allowed to use the soda machine at the Poly to refill my mug? I promise it will be a brand new mug and not my one from last year, scout's honor!!

Mods, sorry if this is in the wrong place! :flower3:

I haven't done it but I have seen people that do. I don't think there are "drink police". The last time we went (2010) all the refillable mugs for all resorts looked exactly the same so maybe its not a big deal and no one will notice.

When you purchase your mug at the resort you are staying at, that's the resort where you get refills. It's written right on the mug.

That's the rules for refillable mugs.

You can purchase a soda and pour it into the mug to use it elsewhere. But free refills are only at the resort you bought it at.

I thought there was some kind of rule like this- I'd never noticed it written on the mug before...and I use it every morning for coffee on the way to work, you'd think I'd notice.

Thanks! :)

When I stayed at the Pop Century this past February I specifically asked if we could use them in other resorts and the CM told me that it was no problem.

I consider this to be taking life too seriously. A soda is a soda, you paid for the mug, you refill it at a resort. If you do it at a different resort, I don't think you'll be considered a thief, banned from WDW, or sentenced to an afterlife in hell.

Not "taking sides",just thought some DISers may have not seen the policy "in print".:)

(Split stays are an exception to my knowledge)

LMAO!! Too funny! I totally agree with you on this. I really dont think its a big deal. Its just soda. I filled it up ONCE at the beach club. I was thirsty as heck. The CM said it was fine!

Read the mug. It tells you no.

Just looked at my mugs again...they are generic. NO resort name on it at all. Got them at POP July 2010. The 2006 mugs DO say Caribbean Beach. We stayed off-site in 2008 and 2009 so we didn't get mugs then.

Personally I think the reason they are now all the same is Disney realized that some guest were already doing this. If it was a huge problem then I'm sure Disney would have produced different mugs for each resort (I have so many in my Disney Memorbilia collection!) I imagine the cost savings they realized from only producing one mug far outweighs the amount the lose on those who refill at the wrong resort. Just my 2 cents.

I've bought a ton of refill mugs and I drink my coffee from them at home every day. I like refill mugs so much that I even buy them when staying CL - just because the mug is part of my morning routine and I like to use the refill station at the pool. I've never posted on a refill mug thread, but just wanted to add that I understand the point about Disney not issuing resort-specific mugs. Also, the fine print on the mug differs from the sign on the refill stations - mug says beverage stations at resort purchased, sign identifies each beverage station as a free refill location.

I agree with everything you said.

No need for a mug debate on the Restaurant board. It's a resort board discussion and (like tipping here) They have one dedicated thread that is a sticky on the subject here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2447967

Redirecting everyone there. Please read the first post for their guidelines.
