Hello,
I just signed up for a muddy buddy with my niece. It is the first one for us and I was wondering what the obstacles are? I know about the pit, and I saw a wall with a cargo net, but what are the others? Just want to know how to train so as not to embarrass the 14 year old;) .

The obstacles haven't been very difficult. Sometimes the worst part is waiting to do the obstacle and then trying to find your bike.

Over the last three years some of the obstacles have been:
A cargo net and inflatable slide
Monkey bars
Balance beams
A wall about 4 feet high to vault over
Horizontal bars that you have to "weave" through vertically

If you can do the run and bike portions, the obstacles will be the easiest part. Train by riding your bike in thick grass and in sugar sand. Practice running in the same stuff. Plus, be prepared to run in heat and humidity.

Are you entered in Chicago or Orlando?

Chester

I'm entered in Orlando. Now I have to find a bike to use.
Thanks for the info :thumbsup2

Sorry for the hijack but I have a couple of questions as well.

I was thinking of doing this as well and I didn't know they had them all over, so we thought about doing it in Detroit. Do they give out medals to everyone for finishing or do you get anything? And is there a time limit to complete the race?

Thank you!

The only medals given out are for the top 3 place finishers in each division.

There doesn't seem to be a time limit. There are a lot of Divisions so the starts are staggered to control the amount of racers on the course. Last year my Son and I were finished before my Daughter and her boyfriend started.

Your time will be approximately what your best 10k time would be.

Chester...are you doing the Sarasota Dirty Duo this year?

So, that is what they renamed the Sarasota Muddy Buddy to.

To answer the question, I don't know. But, I would like to.

I'll have to talk to Chet and see if he wants to do it again. As a back-up I'll try to enlist Miranda.

If all else fails, I could always enter in the "new" run only category.

I'm hoping to see you and all the Princess Halfers on Sunday.

I'm hoping to do this with another Dis'er. Anyone doing this in Orlando?

DS19 and I will be doing our 4th Orlando Muddy Buddy this year. This is one of my favorite events of the year. Hopefully 2 weeks recovery from the Country Music Marathon will be enough.

Do you know how long the muddy buddy is? What time do they start to cross the finish line? Thanks. :goodvibes

Hey Chester- Thanks for all the great info about the Muddy Buddy. I'm signed up to run it with cocowum's husband Paul.

The race is 6.57 miles if they use the same course. Most people seem to finish it in about the same amount of time it would take for them to run a 10k.

They have a lot of different starting groups that are sent out at 5 minute intervals, so some teams are finishing the race before others have even started.

Does the Muddy Buddy usually sell out? And if so when?
Hi Tricia - Chester told me that the Muddy Buddy does usually sell out. He said it has sold out in March the past few years. So it's probably about time to sign up if you are interested.

Thanks Dave - guess I better get my butt in gear and sign up for this if I want to do it this year. It just sounds like so much fun.

The Muddy Buddy has sold out every year. I don't think that they advertise the % of registrations like Disney does for their races. I waited too long to register my DD (then 15) and her BF in 2007 and was not able to get them in. They are limiting it to 1,750 teams this year. Sign up before it's too late. A year is a long time to wait for it to come around again.
