MSEP to end Oct. 9 - Parade moves to Disneyland for a "limited time"

I know in food and beverage, if your restaurant closes or goes down for rehab, you get reassigned. I don't know if entertainment is the same though. Again, in F&B if you're full time you have to work 32 hours a week to keep your status, so if that's the case across the board they will be reassigned with full time hours.
Those performers are not limited to one area. They are mostly trained in all parades and shows across property that are not equity shows. They are also able to be used as meet and greet performers. ;)

Rumors continue to say that Paint the Night will come to WDW next year, some areas at MK have been told. Still looks like it will be Spring of next year, so no night parade until then

I agree. These days, more and more people care only about themselves and the power of empathy seems to have almost disappeared. If it does not bother THEM, then you are made out to be a fool because it bothers you. I have seen several people posting ridiculous things about others who are disappointed about the MSEP leaving, and many posting such crap are millennials. However, wait 15 years, when millennials grow up (if ever) and see THEIR nostalgia taken away in favor of the new generation.....karma.....

I'm 30 so technically I'm in the millennial generation and I'd tend to agree with the whole me first thing/lack of empathy that a lot of people in my generation seem to have but honestly every generation has its flaws. Last trip on more than one occasion I overheard multiple older guests 60-70yo range use ethnic and racial slurs casually off the cuff without even trying to be quiet about it but I don't immediately lump all elderly people as racists even though they grew up in a time that it was socially acceptable to use terms like that. The next generation will probably have its own flaws as well.

Just dropping in to remind everyone to please follow the DIS guidelines when posting.

Please remain on the topic of MSEP and how it affects guests' park planning. Thanks! :)

Sorry if I have missed this on a previous page, but what happens in the interim period? Is there just no parade for a while? I can't remember what happened between Spectromagic and MSEP. Seems odd to not have anything, though I know they have Wishes of course.

First change between them was two weeks, next two changes were immediate.

If true it does point towards a cost-saving move for 3 months... (and Hopefully it is)
According to the My Disney Experience update on the MSEP page, it seems the parade is going away for good:

"Don’t miss this cherished Disney experience as it bids adieu to Walt Disney World Resort on October 9, 2016! This fall, the Main Street Electrical Parade will wave goodbye to Magic Kingdom park before making its way to the Disneyland Resort in Southern California. Be part of the magic—and the nostalgia too—as this long-running Disney Parks staple gives a closing bow on select nights throughout the season."

I just wanted to check in again because I wrote an email to wdw guest services expressing my disappointment. Someone called today. She sounded like she was on her first day of the job, stumbling over her words and I wasn't about to hassle someone like that. First she read to me from the script that @yulilin3 posted, assuring me how much the parade would be enjoyed by those in Disneyland. Then she said she wanted to take me through all of the exciting new things at the Magic Kingdom. Apparently my 8 year old son should be mollified about the loss of the MSEP by the fact that Princess Elena is arriving at the MK. So there you have it, for everyone wondering about what WDW is going to get in it's place. Princess Elena. I'm not even sure who the heck that is and I'm certain that my son, who won't set foot in CRT castle for all of the gold in the kingdom would know either (believe me, I tried. "please, mom, no princesses!" But I'm glad that Disney took the time to tell me about it!

Just because that CM knew nothing about it doesn't mean that no CMs were in the know ................... they were. I knew about it 10 days ago.

There is more to the story. Disney obviously didn't anticipate the backlash from DL, and what might be last minute is how Disney is handling it. It is completely possible the story will end as planned eventually but who knows. They are getting quite good at screwing up "news" and scrambling ... and aggravating guests.
If Disney didn't anticipate backlash from DL for taking away Paint the Night while F! is already dark and will be for a long time still, then Disney really has little understanding of their Anaheim guests.

Wait a minute. I didn't think Princess Elena was even meeting guests? That is really lame.

Well, despite knowing that it doesn't matter, I just completed a "shame on you" email regarding this elimination. As a former DVC owner, and longtime Disney vacationer, I am beyond disappointed with this decision. I have been planning and saving for our upcoming November trip, which will be the first for my grandsons. I am just so sad to know that this won't be a part of our plans. We always sat at the same spot on our newly purchased emporium beach towels to watch the parade. My daughters often talk of their first princess encounters along the parade route (They are now 24 and 34) and they are saddened as well. Because I am planning retirement next year, and hope to spend lots of time in FL, I guess it's now time for me to explore other entertainment options.

I already said what I think about this upthread, but I wanted to stop by again and let you know that your thread was featured in today's installment of the DIS Daily Fix! :cool1:

Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up. Very cool! Now, I can check off two items on my DIS Bucket List: a mention on the Daily Fix and (most importantly) one of my posting being quoted by @WebmasterJackie!

I'm going to miss the kid on the dragon saying "Like my suit...its new". Out with the old I say!

See my post above yours. I sent a heartfelt email and was hoping for more than a canned response by a poor young woman who was nervously reading off the script and stumbling over her words. When she said "there are many exciting new things at the Magic Kingdom. let me take you through them" and told me about princess elena she lost me. Would it be appropriate to write a complaint about their complaint response? :-p
