Had an awesome time last night at the MSEP Premier Party. I don't regret a bit making the last minute decision to drive down for this. The weather held out just fine for the parade. There was one decent shower around 11pm that started just as I got on IASW and was done by the time I got out of the ride.
Lines were more than halfway across the esplanade around 7pm. They opened the gates a little bit after 7 even though the official start time was 7:30.
All the 'big' rides were open except for Splash (and Matterhorn was down for part of the night). Rides were basically walk on except Peter Pan which said 20min the couple times I walked by. I rode more rides last night than in a whole day of our trip a few weeks ago (though it was very busy then).
I saw people immediately staking out spots for the parade at the start of the party and was briefly worried. I didn't want to spend 2 hours sitting on a curb. Fortunately, I was easily able to find a great spot by IASW about 8:45 for the parade at 9pm.
And then it was time. The parade started about 5min late and there were a couple of times there was a bit of a lag between floats but I'm sure they'll get that stuff sorted out. It definitely struck all the right nostalgic chords with me and I loved it.
A bit after the parade, they brought a bunch of the floats out and positioned them around Main Street and you could take photos with them. Loved this!
