I just got off the phone with MS and found out their hours to celebrate New Year's. I didn't know this, don't know about others. They're open Friday, New Year's Eve. However, surprisingly to me, they're closed on Monday, January 3. So if, like me, you're trying to make day-to-day ressies for early December, they'll be closed on January 3. Also, this Friday, December 31, you can't call for December 1. Thursday, you can call for November 30. However, for December 1, you won't be able to call til Tuesday, January 4. However, for those few of us at WDW on 1/4, she didn't know how to call from there!

just use the local number - or the toll free will still work.

my work is the same - the day we would have off in New Year only - so we get off Monday.

thanks for the update!

Thanks for the heads up! For most folks where I live, Friday is the day celebrated as the holiday since the real holiday is a Saturday this year - Christmas & New Year's. Taking Monday for a Saturday holiday seems strange to me!

we have told before - it is a days problems - only so many holidays per year, and NY is a 2005 holiday not a 2004.

you don't work for a big company (corporation)

ooooooooooo - that actually makes sense about it being a 2005 holiday. I work for a small company too and we are "celebrating" on Friday. Interesting and thanks for the info!

Thanks as we are doing the day by day for Nov/Dec of 2005. I got tied up in an AP purchase question and forgot to ask about their holiday hours.

Yes and some big companies, like mine, opt to give associates a floating holiday rather than a mandatory closing day.

I like the floater!

Thanks for posting this. I'm in the middle of a "day by day" for Nov 26 to Dec 2. I figured I would finish it on Monday. Guess I have to call Tuesday.

I work for a major insurance company. Our New Years holiday is Monday, Jan 3. Mainly because of the number of holidays vs calendar year issue (they gave us Jan 1 & 2 for New Years in 2004). Management recently realized that alot of our agents are off on Friday Dec 31 and are open on Monday. So now some departments are asking some people to come in on Monday and giving them another floater instead. We have 7 holidays plus 1 floater for 2005.

My company follows Federal Banking holidays. So if July 4th, Veterans Day, Christmas or New Years falls on a Saturday, we do not get Friday or Monday off. We get a floater instead. If they fall on a Sunday though, we get the following Monday off. (And only one day for Thanksgiving too.)

I'd rather get the floaters for MLK and Presidents' Day instead (as well as non-Saturday Veterans Day too).
