Well, here goes! After a good couple of years of little to no exercise and eating lots of unhealthy foods, I think I am now officially ready to start getting back to better health. Oh, the joyous nights spent sitting on the couch with my Haagen Daaz Chocolate Chocolate Chip ice cream, watching my many Tivo recorded shows........it will all be a distant memory soon!

I am 39 years old, and I have 2 boys (ages 6 & 3). I put on some weight with each pregnancy, but really started eating after they were born. Go figure! I am 5'7" tall and weigh 185 lbs.

My first goal is to get into some better shape for our next Disney trip in November. I would say I am losing weight for Mickey, but I am really losing weight for Shamu! My husband and I are doing this trip with no kids, and we are doing a day at Sea World Discovery Cove. The thought of squeezing my body into a wet suit is pretty horrifying to me! :scared1: Images of stuffed sausages come to mind...

We have another Disney trip planned for April, so that's another goal of mine. We'll be hitting Disneyland and the beach in California. By that time, I'll be hoping to fit into a swimsuit without having to look away from my image in the mirror!:scared:

So, here goes my friends. My official kick-off day to a new and improved me will be tomorrow. I plan to post here with an update every 2 weeks. I'll include my current weight and my Wii Fit age (which is 42 right now). By the way, my hubby is the same age as me. He is also completely out of shape, but Wii Fit told him he was 28! That's not fair!:headache:

Anyway, I digress....I'll be back here 2 weeks from today and will let you all know the good, the bad and the ugly of my quest to a new me!

Well, I made it through the first 2 weeks! Yippee! That first week was a killer! I was tired, sore and grumpy most of that first week. :headache: My apologies to everyone I encountered in my grumpy state!

My goal these first 2 weeks was just to make some sort of attempt to start eating healthier and exercising again. I exercised about every other day, and managed a couple of really long walks. The food part was definitely harder for me, although it sure did feel good to eat a bit healthier. I weighed myself on Friday, and I had lost 5 pounds! Yay! Double Yay! Triple Yay! :yay:

My son had his first Scout camping trip this weekend, so I definitely wasn't eating healthy there. Can you say S'mores??? Yummy! A bit of a diet relapse....Anyway, I plan to go into these next 2 weeks with a renewed effort! I want to up the ante, so to speak, and try even harder to eat well and exercise. Wish me luck! I'll check back in 2 weeks and let you know how it goes!

It's the end of another 2 weeks! I exercised more these past couple of weeks. I did well on the diet the first week, but took a step back the second week when the Halloween candy started appearing! :sad2: I'll definitely have to try and fight that temptation next week!

However, I did manage to lose another 2 pounds, for a grand total of 7 pounds lost in the past 4 weeks. I'm thrilled about that! I think it's a good healthy weight loss. My goal is to lose another 8 in the next 4 weeks before our trip to the World. Still have to get that wetsuit on at Sea World! I plan to keep working on a healthy diet and I also want to start adding in weights to my workout routine.

Check back in with me on 11/7 and I'll let you know how it's going! Anyone who is still reading this, thanks for sticking with me!

Hey Mrs. Toaster! I love that name. You are doing so great! Are you following a particular food plan? Did you get a new Wii Fit age? For me, my Wii Fit age is completely dependent on what tests that little board chooses for me.

Are you going to WDW for Thanksgiving or just after Thanksgiving? A trip with just your husband sounds SO nice. You can definitely lose another 8 by then! :)

Thank you for the kind words! I am not following a particular food plan, as diets never seem to work for me. I am really just focusing on eating healthier and trying to eat a little less in general. For example, we are now planning out a menu for each working week that includes a variety of proteins (at least 1 fish, 1 chicken, 1 beef, etc.). One night each week, we just have a big salad with no meat. On the weekends, we tend to go out with the kids, and that's where things get more challenging! I still have to figure that part out! We are also trying to add in more vegetables and fruit. Just eating healthier definitely helps me to feel better, but we still have progress to make! Chocolate is my downfall!

I forgot to get a new Wii Fit age! I agree with you, that it seems to depend on what tests you get. We are heading to Orlando the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. We had this same trip last year, and it really is heavenly! Our kids got to go this summer and they are going to Disneyland in CA this Spring, so they really don't mind us going. It's just so nice to take your time and really enjoy the parks, and we are especially excited to try Sea World Discovery Cove this year.

Thank you again for your support!

Your personal food plan sounds great. It's amazing how much menu planning can facilitate smart eating, isn't it? Chocolate is a tough one, for sure. Here's a really neat website about how chocolate can fit into a healthy lifestyle. I think the webpage design is just gorgeous, too.

Take care!

It's been another 2 weeks. My new weight loss total is....9 pounds! I'm like the tortoise in the Tortoise and the Hare story- slow and steady wins the race. I do think that doing it slowly will help me to make real changes in my life which will allow me to keep the weight off permanently. I hope so, anyway!

I was hoping to reach 15 pounds by the time we leave on our trip, but as that is only 2 weeks away, I'm not sure that is a realistic goal. I'll just settle for getting as close to 15 as I can! With all the Halloween parties my kids had, I definitely did not keep up with my exercise and diet over this last 2 weeks, but I should do much better in the upcoming weeks before our trip.

If you are still following along, thank you! Check back in with me in 2 weeks, the day we depart for Orlando!
