Mrs. Darling's June 2010 Accidental PTR: Pirates and Harry Potter 6/30 TR Link posted

I've never been to Olivia's, so I can't speak to that. However, I am voting for heading back to Epcot. I really like the parks in the evenings. I want to ride test track after dark.:wizard: i think that would be neat.

Love the plan so far.
I really like the parks at night too. Test Track in the dark would be fun and we could get a fastpass for it earlier in the day.

Could you move Olivia's up or back to accommodate more time in Epcot? Also, I noticed that you are planning on using your Soarin' fastpasses after you meet up with Liz and her family--they may or may not have fastpasses. Will this be an issue?
That is a good idea to move Olivia's up and make it an earlier dinner. I'm not sure if Liz is planning on getting fastpasses or not. If she doesn't have one then we can save ours for later.

Woo, you are braver than me, I am scared to try M:S even though part of me really wants to. I just can't bring myself to do it.
DH has been on it and seems to think we'll do OK. I'm actually more scared for the boys than me, but they should be fine because we're going on the green side.

My vote is to spend the evening in Epcot.
We-DS and i did Mission Space(orange side) and loved it. It wasn't as bad as i thought i just concentrated on my 'job' and stared straight ahead.
Another Epcot vote. And I'm glad to hear you like Mission Space. I've always avoided it because of the motion sickness thing, but hopefully that won't be a problem on Green.

I have heard good reviews of Olivia's. I might be tempted to try to go to Olivia's early and do both (if possible). I just love Illuminations. Your plan for the day looks great!:goodvibes
I really do want to try Olivia's. I don't know when I'll get the chance again. It just seems like since we are staying at OKW we should eat at their restaraunt. Great idea to move the time up a bit and head to Epcot after.

Would you eat at Epcot instead of Olivia's, CS or TS? I would also vote going back to Epcot, only because riding TT in the dark would be cool :)
I was thinking we would head back to Epcot to eat. There are still some TS places available in WS. (San Angel, Marrakkesh, Nine Dragons, Teppan Edo). Or we could do CS there. I love Tangieriene Cafe. But now I'm leaning toward just moving Olivia's to around 5:00.

So everyone seems to be in agreement about returning to Epcot. I think I'll try to get Olivia's earlier (I'm not sure what time dinner starts) and then head back to Epcot for a bit. That's the best of both worlds! Thanks for all of your suggestions! They really helped:goodvibes

So how about we get to the plans for Day 6. This is our Epcot morning. We'll be up early, get a quick breakfast in the room and be at the gates of Epcot in time for rope drop. I think we'll drive over instead of take the bus. We'll go with the rest of the crowd to Soarin where we will pick up some fastpasses. Then we'll trot over to the other side of Future World and take a ride on Test Track. Then we're going to try a new ride. Mission Space. We're sticking with the green side though. Both Michael and I have motion sickness issues:sick: I figure this will bring us to around 10:00 when we plan to meet up with the Disney Family:cool1: At this point we are pretty flexible. Maybe Nemo, maybe the Characters, maybe Spaceship Earth, maybe Figment, maybe Innoventions. (Obviously I'm pretty up in the air). If you're out there Liz what are you thinking? Then we'll do lunch at Sunshine Seasons. We'll probably use those Soarin fastpasses after lunch and maybe do some of those things mentioned above. Early afternoon we'll head back to the hotel for an afternoon swim break with the Disney Family. Then our evening is pretty flexible. I have an ADR at Olivia's (at OKW) this evening. But I'm thinking maybe we'll want to head back to Epcot and use fastpasses we collected earlier in the day. Then we would miss Olivia's and I really want to try it at some point. What do you guys think? Should I stick with Olivia's or head back for an Epcot evening?

Morning! :sunny:

What I am thinking is just what you posted....Maybe Nemo, maybe the Characters, maybe Spaceship Earth, maybe Figment, maybe Innoventions. lol That's about as much planning as I've made so far. Maybe we can get Soarin' FP's to use with you guys...

To answer your last question...I would do whatever is more relaxing. :teeth:

I haven't been brave enough to try MS yet.:rolleyes1 I can't wait to hear what you think.:thumbsup2 Hmm....I've heard good things about Olivia's too! But, my vote would be to head back to Epcot. I love Epcot at night!!:cloud9:

Glad to see we're on the same page indecisive though it may be:rotfl:

So as I've been contemplating our plans for Day 6 evening I've come up with a new idea. I already have an Epcot evening on Day 3. (I don't think I mentioned that I switched ADRs from 1900 Park Fare to Garden Grill. The boys love that place and I like the idea of not having to trudge up to the buffet.) And another Epcot evening on Day 5 when we are eating at Coral Reef. So now I'm considering eating an early dinner at Olivia's on Day 6 and then heading over to Animal Kingdom for the EMH. We've never done EMHs before. I've always adhered to TGM's advice, but from my search results here on the DIS it sounds like PM AK EMHs (enough acronyms for ya:rotfl:) are not too bad. The Safari will be closed, and my boys won't ride Everest, but they love Kali River and we can get in that pesky Dinosaur Dumbo. Plus I'll be able to let them play in the Boneyard one of their favorite attractions. During the day it is so hot that I limit the amount of time they can play there. Plus hopefully there will be some characters out and my boys love the characters. I think it would be a relaxing evening and kind of fun to be in this park in the evening. So what do you think? Anyone have any experience with PM EMH at AK?

No experience with it but I would love to do PM EMH at the AK sometime (whoa, that is a lot of abbreviations, haha). The only downside is that there really isn't a lot open but it would be cool to see the park at night.

I don't have experience with it, but I have also heard that AK is a good park to go to for EMH. Especially, since it will be cooler and AK is a hot park. I think it sounds like a great plan!:thumbsup2

I am a bit concerned about the lack of open attractions. The Safari is closed, the trails are closed, my kids won't ride Everest or Dinosaur and after doing a little research I think the Boneyard is closed. But a lot of what is great about the AK is just the atmosphere and it will be relaxing not having to run from ride to ride. I think we may give it a try.

The cooler factor is a big one. June is hot and this is a hot park so it would be nice to browse it at our leisure in cooler temps.

We did eve EMH at AK I guess two years ago. We enjoyed it, but we rode the big rides. At the time, the Boneyard was open. It was nice to enjoy the park without the crowds and the cooler temps.:goodvibes

:yay: Someone that actually has personal experience at eve EMH at AK! I'm glad to hear it wasn't crowded and really glad to hear the Boneyard was open. That would make my boys night!

:welcome: Thanks for joining the fun!

I was hit with a bit of a planning snag this morning. It's not a bad snag just a potential change in a few plans. My parents (who are taking Wendy on the cruise) are considering flying directly into and out of Orlando. That means they will take Wendy directly to the port which is nice for me. The snag comes in with the potential they may want to spend some time with me and the boys in Orlando at some point. And my sister-in-law and kids may decide to come spend some time with us in Orlando as well on one side or the other of the cruise since she will now have to get her daughter to/from the port. This isn't bad news at all. My parents are great and it's always fun to spend time with them. And my sister-in-law is one of my most favored relations! Plus she comes not only with my niece that is Wendy's age, but with one of the nicest 13 year old girls I know. And for my boys she brings my 7 year old nephew. And as a bonus there is an adorable 2 year old toddler that is a total crack up. So of course this will be fun to spend time with them. But the snag comes in with the fact that they are not uber planners like all of us DIS crazed folk;) So they don't really know when they are coming or what they are doing yet. In fact my parents haven't even bought the plane tickets so they have no idea. So this forces me to be a bit flexible about plans. Chances are good my parents will arrive the evening of Day 2. I'm sure they haven't even considered where they will stay yet. That is my Ohana dinner which I don't want to give up but we shall see what happens. Then they will presumably take Wendy to the port on Day 3, but I'd think we could still get a few hours in at AM EMH at HS like I planned. The big adjustment will probably have to come with Day 7 when they return. I haven't even posted those plans yet, but we were planning on spending the day with the Disney Family at Animal Kingdom. That may be up in the air a bit (Sorry Liz) depending on my parents and sister-in-law. I am extremely flexible with the whole thing and am just happy to be at my Happy Place!

So let's get on with more Darling Family 2008 Disney Memories

Last time we had just finished our private tour of Minnie's abode. Next stop was the Princesses. John was not happy about this. In fact this is how he looked the entire time we were in with the princesses.

:lmao:

Michael, on the other hand was quite taken with them. They all flirted with him a bit and he was putty in their hands. Here are some shots.

In this next one he is showing Belle his muscles. I suppose in the last one he was showing Cinderella his six pack:rolleyes:

To John's great relief we finished up with the princesses and headed over to visit some characters a bit more manly.

Then we made a visit to the Big Cheese himself:

We had loads more fun this day, but this is just supposed to be a highlight reel not a full on trip report so we'll move to the next day which was an Epcot day!

image191.jpg

This is my favorite picture of this trip. Michael just looks so confused:rotfl:

My kids can never pass up a character so we had to make a stop at the Character Connection.

DH was off getting Soarin FP when this shot was taken
image226.jpg

But he made it back in time for the Goofy family shot.

We also managed to find a giant Figment

After a fun Future World morning we headed to the World Showcase. We took a gelati break in Italy and a PP photographer showed up to record the moment.

We eventually made our way to England where we met up with some more friends

image260.jpg

And we ended up in Canada where Koda and Kenai were awaiting us

This was a great Epcot day. The kids made the masks and picked up the trinket offered in each country. We all really enjoyed the day, but there is still plenty more to come of our 2008 trip.

Great pics (as usual)! The "extra" people issue. I get it! :lmao:
We've never done AK PM EMH but we recently did MK PM EMH. Crowd levels were at a 9 so I expected it to be a nightmare. It was really quite fun! We got on Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Haunted Mansion, etc.

Amanda

So I am not the only one whose plans are being modified by family? Good to know we can all comiserate!

Love the photos. Once again, my favourite is the columns!:)

Adorable character pics!!!:goodvibes I definitely know what you mean about having extra people along. I am such a planner and when we brought the family last year, I had to learn to be flexible and slow it down a little. But it worked out! As you know, we had a great trip!;)
