Ever had one?
What're they like?

I have to get one early monday morning because the orthopedist thinks I've tore 2 ligaments in my knee.
I have no idea how I did it.

Thats an MRI machine.

Basically I think you lay down and it slides you through it a few times. It doesn't hurt or anything. You just have to lay still.

Not bad unless you are claustrophobic like me, I usually have to have a open machine but since you are having your knee done I do not think Your head will be inside the machine. There is alot of clanging and banging but no pain unless it hurts you to lay still.

I had one last december on my ear. All you do is lay in the machine but you have to say very still. You dont feel anything but it is really loud in there. They gave me ear plugs but I'm not sure if everyone get ear plugs. Mine was pretty long but there were a few breaks. I was really worried when I went in but it is really not that bad and nothing to worry about.

Hope I helped :)

P.S. I did have to have an IV in my arm.

My sister had 1 done 2 yrs ago because she had a servere case of scoliosis. You basically have to stay perfectly still for about 45 mins.

I Have had manyyyyyyy MRI's because I get REALLLY bad migraine headaches where I get really confused and can't talk so, they have done a lot of MRI's on my head which means my whole body has to go in the tube which seems really bad but, its actually not. I am afraid of being in small spaces (claustrophobic) but the MRI machine didnt really scare me because both ends were open. I was in there for about 45 minutes and you have to stay still and you can listen to music to. They give you this little thing to hold in you hand that you can squeeze if you start to feel unconfortable. The doctors that go to for my MRI's are really friendly and try to make it as comfortable as possible.:thumbsup2 I never had to get any needles or IV's in my arms for MRI's but I know sometimes they need to change you pigments and things by giving you just one shot. I have had IV's before (not for MRI's) and they are uncomfortalbe and they kind of hurt, so hopefully you wont have to get one of them.

My dad had to have one the other day. It took him, like, 20 minutes.

MRI's are not bad at all. I get them once a year. It is for my brain. Like everyone is saying, it is a loud machine. Mine takes about an hour to do. Just because of what i am getting the MRI for. For the longest time, i had them every few weeks. I have a NON CANERIOUS tumor in the hippocampus part of the brain. They been montering it by like i said, yearly MRI's. It is nothing bad. Oh yea, I did have an IV too when i have mine done

thanks everyone!

i hope i won't have to go all the way into the tunnel because it's just my knee.
but since i'm short i probably will go all the way in.

i'm not scared that it's very claustrophobic in there,
i'm scared of the noise.

AngienLuLu - I hope your dad is alright!
