Hi all,
First let me say i am fine as well as all my guys.Second we are not fighters or did we do anything wrong or start this.here's the story
So aroung 11 pm last night I was on duty.We get a run for a smoke condition with several people over come by smoke.we roll.I know this address well it's a club/bar close by with a bad history of being a criminal hot spot.In the past we have have shootings there,over doses,fights,stabbings and 2 years ago it was shut down becuase the nypd discovered a prostution and drug ring in the basement.a new owner bought it and until now it seemed he really cleaned the place up alot.So anyway we pull up and a bouncer outside ask's can i help you.no were going in to take a look around recieved a call etc.Now i know that the caller most likly was not allowed into this placed and figured he show them and call 911 and have them shut down.Most likly he is standing on the corner watching this unfold.The bouncer says " sorry your not allowed to enter"???????Here's when i knew it would go bad quick.You cannot stop us,we have peace officer status and have the laws on our side,we have a duty to investagate evry single 911 call,no matter how crazy it sounds.
One of my guys explains that attempting to stop us is a class 2 felony.We are going in with or without your perrmission.HE begins to walk in and this bouncer grabs him forfully around the arm.Right here i know this is gonna be a fight.the FDNY guy who was grabbed is a big irish guy he doesn't start fights,but i know him well he will not back down.Just then one of the FDNY ghuys grabs the bouncer and tells him to let the other guy g
ur captain radios for the NYPD STAT.Other units in the area here this and know this clubs history and rush over so now its like 20-28 FDNY guys and it lokks like a stand off.Just then someone comes outside who has been partying there and says"some girl passed out i think shes dead inside"jimmy one of the guys on my crew whos has the most time on the job next to me.Starts to go in and is knocked to the ground and right there it's on!punches are being throw,but my guys did not throw a single punch.several bouncers are outside fighting us.now we have been taught that if someone is attacking you to tackle them to the ground and hold them till the nypd arrives and thats exactly what my guys were doing.I took a punch to the shoulder and knee but i am fine,not even a mark.jimmy made it inside and was dragged out again by these so called bouncers.
In the end 8 bouncers were arrested.3 FDNY guys were hospitalied with minor injury's,black eyes and bloody noses.To prove my point that my guys did not throw one single punch not one bouncer needed to go to the emergency room or was treated medical.my guys were just defending themselves.The fire marshalls came by and pad locked the club for over crowding and emergency exit's being locked with no one having the key to unlock them.The club owner was issued several summons by the nypd and the fdny marshalls.the bouncers were booked on interfering with gov't officals,obstruction of gov't officals.felony assault of a gov't offical.weapons possesion(two had knifes)failure to allow a emergency personnal investagate a complaint.meancing and harressment.public intox,as several of them had vodka on thier breath.In the end they said the club owner had told them,not to allow any cops into the club.We are not cops and when called upon you cannot stop us to check out a 911 call.We win you lose!All of my guys are fine,just lumped up.The girl that passed out was never found.so who knows if she even existied in the first place.there was no smoke in the club other the the stench of pot and no one was over come.It's sad it had to come to this,very sad.We have a duty to act that is a law and we must check out every 911 call no matter how dumb or crazy it sounds.the funny thing is,i know that these 8 morons will try to sue the city over this.They kept saying it and the truly believe they were right and doing thier job as told not to let cops in the club by thier boss.I have a feeling the fire marshalls are not gonna let this one slide,since they said they will now pay visits to this club every week to check them out.still very sad it had to come to this ending.
