Came back from a short trip to a flat track motorcycle race last night, and had an incident; all eight wheel studs on a dually rear side sheared off.
Thank the Lord no one was around me, and for giving me the correct reactions to the wild ride. I will assume we are all competent drivers, but no one here is prepared for a drop from a 33 inch tire to a 10 inch brake drum, and certainly not me! No one was hurt, and surprisingly little damage to the old bread truck, 1 lost tire/rim.
Not sure at all what the cause was, although some have thought maybe loose lug nuts. I dont know, there was no warning at all, and I havent checked the other wheels to see. I listen to the old machine, dont even have a radio, no warning at all.
Moral of the story; check your lug nuts/bolts, keep an eye on the driveline. I got lucky, I would hate to hear someone else didnt!
