Moving to Florida..No SuperTarget, No Kohls...

What am I going to do???

I do all my houseware shopping at Kohls and buy all my bra's and undies there too when they are 50% off. I do ALL my grocery shopping at SuperTarget... I hate Super Walmart. I don't know what I am going to do...

I checked, and Thank Goodness there is a Home Goods... and a BJ's. That's just so exciting. We only have Costco here and for our small family of two all that is good for is paper goods, meats and frozen chicken breast!

Just needed to ask. I understand there is a Kohl's by WDW somewhere... will need to make that trip more often now!

BTW: we are moving to Ft. Lauderdale on Wednesday. And you ask, what am I doing here instead of packing??? Good Question! I was packing my little chef kitchen guy stuff up and thinking I'd like a new theme down there so I came to look and see if there is a Kohls...then... well you know how that goes!

Theres a Kohls on Osceola pkway at The Loop..not far from rt 535 near Disney.

That's actually good to know. Kohl's has a lot of VERY good stuff for very LOW prices, especially when they're on clearance! Enjoy Florida!

I was doing my happy dance a couple weeks ago when I found out that they're building a Kohls here near the Brandon mall. I think that was when DH started crying. It's going up quick too!

I live 2 hrs north of WDW and we have both Kohl's and SuperTargets. Now all I need is an IKEA!!

I am thinking they HAVE to be building one in S. Florida sometime soon. They are also building a second one a few miles away. But NOTHING is on their Grand Opening website so I have hope that maybe one is in the process somewhere down there.

I love the 50% deals. I decorate my kitchen completely different everytime we move b/c it's so reasonable to do so. Now I have about three seperate kitchen themes in boxes, I should put it up on E-Bay. I have the Chef guy, a wine and grape theme and a tropical fish theme!!! I want something yellow, green and blue and pretty this time!

Until the Kohls is built in Brandon, you could try the one on the southwest side of Lakeland. It's located in the new (and gorgeous!) Lakeside Village and the Polk Parkway runs right by making easy access to Brandon/Tampa area.

I can't believe the only Container Store in FL is in Miami I need some stuff from there and I don't relish the thought of driving 3 hours (or paying shipping to order it online).

Although there are Targets in South Florida, your closest SuperTarget will be the one in Boynton Beach (which is really only about 20-25 mins up the turnpike from Ft Lauderdale.) This SuperTarget is only a few months old.

There are Costcos all over Florida. The closest one for you will be the one at Sample Rd and the Turnpike in Pompano Beach. Pompano Beach is right on top of Ft Lauderdale.
There is another Costco in Boca Raton which is just another 15 mins or so north. Another on Lantana Rd and I 95. Just go to Costco.com and look for locations.

Another store you might like is Bealls. This place is AWESOME. They have GREAT buys on clothing, home goods, they have the BEST sandals and the prices are fantastic. The closest Bealls to Ft Lauderdale is the one in Boca Raton for now. They are all over Florida too. If you want to see what kind of merchandise they carry, go to www.Beallsflorida.com

The only thing that makes me cry about that is trying to get into that Costco now! Kohls has great housewares sales.

The one Iloveepcot mentioned in Lakeland is 25 minutes from Brandon-and there's quite a few other places to check out in that center. Great Greek food on the way in-Pappas!

Where in Ft Laud will you be? There is a SuperTarget at the Sawgrass Mall and one in Tamarac. You're potentially pretty close to both.

The Target at the Sawgrass is called Target Greatland. Although bigger than the average regular Target, Target Greatland doesn't sell as many groceries as SuperTarget. There is just a few aisles with cookies, some cereals, soda and water, no meats and not much produce.

We will be in downtown FT. Lauderdale, right off Las Olas.

We have Costco here, and while I like it for somethings, we had BJ's back home in MA and would rather go there!! There is one in Hollywood, that based on mapquest should actually be closer to me than Costco!

This SuperTarget you speak of in Sawgrass or Tamarac, is either of these remotely close to Downtown??? I searched the Target website but it didn't show me those!

Actually, if you really want to go to Super Target, there are two in Broward county, one in Lauderhill and the other one is at Sawgrass Mills.

IKEA was looking to build a store south of us, I can't remember exactly where, maybe Davie. I can't remember, but it didn't fly. I think there are plans to build one somewhere in Sunrise.

If you're close to "595" it's probably a 15 minute drive.

They're building one in Sunrise, FL - opening in 2007! That was the only disappointment for me when I was looking up the stores around where I'm moving to.

Here in OH, IKEA is about 1.5 hours away in Pittsburgh - not a bad drive when you make a weekend out of it. But down there, the nearest IKEA is Atlanta!!!

And I do like Beall's too--they are similar to Kohl's but more "Florida" style!
