Moving luggage and jumping around resorts

I think I read on here that if you set up a different stay they can move your luggage around to the different resorts. Is that true? I may be booking a stay where I'll have to jump around to a bunch of different resorts due to availability so I may be staying in different resorts each night. Not sure if it's going to be worth it but banked points will be lost if I don't. Has anyone ever done this? Thanks.

We've "sort of" done this...had one (very last minute) trip two years ago where the first 3 nights of a 7 night reservation required us to move (OKW to SSR to BWV Preferred to BWV standard)...

Disney transfers your luggage...just take it to the bell stand (or have them come get it)...prepare to tip at each point (I tip $2/bag)...the intra-resort transfers take place between 1 and 3...you have to be in your room to have your luggage delivered (unlike ME which will simply drop off your luggage whether you're there or not)...

So, very easy...

BUT...between having to wait for room availability at the "new" resort (and it can be as late as 4) and having to be there to get your luggage (and possibly wait til the Bell Stand has the time to get it to you), you do wind up "homeless" and "luggage-less" for most of the daytime hours each day...AND, those tips can add up! You "have" to tip when you drop the luggage off (or have it picked up) and again when you receive it...for us, at $4/bag ($2 at drop-off and $2 at delivery) for 4 bags for 3 days it came to $48 (assuming my math is correct, and it may not be!)...

If your plan is to spend the entire day in a park, it's easy, convenient and no biggie...if, however, you want to spend some mid-afternoon time hanging out at the resort, then not having a room or your stuff can be an issue...

But if I had a choice between losing points and doing a trip that involved multiple resort/room changes, I'd go w/the trip, hands-down!!!

Good luck...

With a car it is easy since you can move your own luggage and easily get to the new resort at about 7am to check in. even if there is not a room ready most of the time I have had a room by noon (I do not travel during the busiest times). If you need to have WDW move your luggage and do not check in till later, to increases your chances of being homeless and/or luggageless for a significant amount of time.

Ouch..., moving really takes a bite out of your vacation. We usually move once every trip because we like variety. I wouldn't want to move more than that.

One thing I just thought about- If I am getting hopper passes, I guess I would need to buy them separately and not tie them to the room keys since in some cases I may not be checking in at the new resort until later in the day? What about if I wanted to do the dining plan and was changing resorts each day?
I would love to rent a car but that would mean having to bring along two car seats with me which would be a big hassle but something I have to consider. I don't think rental cars will supply car seats at least that is what I remember the last time I checked.

We too are going to move the next trip. We are staying at SSR the first five days to use our developer points and then moving to AKV Kidani for 2 nights. I wanted to see what the new Kindani was like and thought a 2 night stay would be good to check it out. Then next time I will know if I want Kidani or Jambo. My travel group will have 7 people and no car, we are doing the ME. I have 2 thoughts for how to switch, perhaps someone can let me know what would work best.

Thought #1 -- I thought we could check out of SSR around 8 or 9 and go over to AKL for breakfast at Boma and check-in to our new room (obviously walking over to Kidani), knowing we will not have a room ready, and then going to a park. I would have bell services transfer our luggage and either take a bus to AK and then to AKL or a taxi????

Thought #2 -- We would check out before 11, take our luggage to bell services to be moved, and then my husband or I would go check in and the rest of the group go to a park and meet later.

I also thought either way I would pack a bag with swimsuits, in case we wanted to swim and our luggage wasn't ready.

Question -- I know you have to be there to get your luggage but can they store it at bell services and then we could let them know when we are back from the parks to get our luggage?

Also, any ideas how much a taxi would cost?
