We're on the Dream in Feb (6 of us). I booked nice and early and chose the First seating.

Our friends just called me the other day to find out our info and booked the same cruise. Of course, she could only get the second seating.

We each got different advice from our travel agents. Mine linked our reservations and said that my friend should call and get put on the waitlist for early dining and that she'd get priority because she's linked to me.

Hers said it's better to go in person when we get there and not to bother with the waitlist.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever had a similar situation and how you managed to switch your dining?

Thanks!!

I think both pieces of advice have merit. She should call now and ask to be put on the wait list. If they are not moved before the cruise, on embarkation day, she should go to the location for dining requests.

Definitely do the waitlist. A friend of mine took his first cruise just a couple weeks ago and was waitlisted for main dining. It came through a few weeks before the cruise. If your friend doesn't get moved to main dining before embarkation, definitely visit the spot for dining changes when you board. But it's better to try getting it changed through the waitlist.

This exact same happened to us, except I was the one booking late. We linked our reservation with our friends and were put on the wait list for main dining. About a month before the cruise, we were notified that our dinner was changed to early seating with our friends.

We were waitlisted for early dining and one day it showed up on our online reservation information. No official notification of the change -- it just showed up on our reservation.

I agree with wait listing, but if that doesn't work, then go to "dining changes" when you board.

I should clarify that it was our TA who notified us, not DCL.

I agree to link reservations and then waitlist for early dining. Your friend may clear the waitlist early but maybe when they are doing the table assignments (a couple weeks in advance of the cruise) they will see the link and move your friends and put you at a table that fits the whole party. If you wait until you are onboard (which of course is an option if the waitlist hasn't come through) then you may have more difficulty finding an open table that will accommodate everyone.
