MOVIES - Timeline vs. Master and Commander?

I saw Master and Commander last night. I had never read the books so I didn't know what I was in for. Luckily I enjoy historical movies. Ben-Hur it wasn't, but I guess it was okay - kind of slow in places.

I really wanted to see Timeline, but heard it got bad reviews so the party I was with decided to see M&C instead.

Did anyone see both? Can you compare and critique them? I may still try to see Timeline this weekend.

I heard M&C wasn't too good so we're planning on seeing Timeline this weekend...after we see Haunted Mansion of course

Brother went and saw it the other night (he had read the book) and said that Timeline was REALY bad.

Saw them both.
Haven't read any of the books.
Liked them both. Neither will have me running out to buy them.
M&C was a bit bloody fo rme....but it was a war movie.
DH had read Timeline and once he realized it wasn't going to follow the book, he could enjoy it for what it was.

Going to HM on Sun!!

I didn't see it in the theatre but bought the DVD and just watched it. Ten times better than M&C! Ha.

I guess maybe I will go see HM this weekend instead. Sticking to Disney seems safe.

Well, funny you should ask. We just returned from seeing Timeline. I did read the book quite a long time ago. Book was okay, movie was better. I really enjoyed it.

I really liked M&C too. I would give M&C a B+ and Timeline a B.

We just got back from seeing Timeline and if you like Adventure, romance, war....that kind of stuff you will like it!...I really enjoyed myself! a fun movie....I will look for the book though...

next I really want to see M&C...I love anything Russell does...I think he is a superb actor....

Saw M&C today and liked it. Good, but not excellent. I really did like the storm scene and the final battle scene. It was a nice escape/adventure film.
