So we're heading back to USO in a month and it's come to my attention that not only has DD not seen all of the HP movies but she has not seen most of the other movies that the attractions are based on. Here is our list of movies that we are going to try to watch over the next 4 weeks:

ET
Spiderman (Toby Maguire version)
The Mummy
Jurassic Park
Goblets of Fire - Deathly Hallows (at least the Grimmauld Place, Gringotts and Quidditch scenes)

Any others?

All the MIB movies. :)
If she's old enough, at least the original Terminator.
And Jurassic Park.

I watched the last two HP movies this weekend and it was a fun refresher (and I needed Kleenex - again!). If only I could get DH to watch - he says that he's seen the first HP movie and that was enough :( Sad for him! And I realize that my step-daughter (9) needs to brush up because she kept asking me why the people in the HP pictures were moving. GAAAAAH! Should I be worried that they aren't going to go as nutso about this as me, the old lady?! Should I worry that they won't have as much fun if they don't know all the details? Or maybe their ignorance will be bliss for them?

My DD still enjoyed the HP stuff last time even though she didn't quite "get it" in relation to the movies she definitely thought the special effects were cool. Our favorites are the newspaper in the FJ queue and the pass through wall in the HE queue.

It just hadn't occurred to me before our last trip that she had never seen ET, Spiderman, Jurassic Park, Mummy... so we're trying to rectify that.

Simpsons cartoons ,Transformers

Transformers - I will admit to absolutely not liking the Transformers ride the 2X I've tried it (once at Orlando and once at Hollywood). I was confused during most of it and had a headache when it was finished. Much like my reaction when I tried to watch the movies . DD can take it or leave it so we'll probably skip it this trip.

Simpsons - we've seen enough to get the character's personalities.

Transformers - yeah, no desire to see that. But I told DH I would watch it and I am hoping to parlay that into him watching another HP movie! lol
ET! I will have to find that one and make at least the kids see it so they aren't lost. DH knows that one.

Despicable ME!

My kids have not seen Terminator - but they enjoyed the ride/show. My kids have also never seen Simpsons, but they were fine on the Krusty simulator ride.

We watched all the harry potter movies each weekend before our trip. When we got home, we watched Sorcerer's stone again. I think the first and second movies are a must watch before the trip.

I think the HP movies add to the enjoyment of the trip, but I don't think that's true for the other movies, great if you have the time/movies, but not a must do before the trip. In the case of HP, they should be familiar with the main characters, you know who, the Weasely Brothers, and Bellatrix.

Which HP movie does Bellatrix appear in? We've made it as far as the Goblet of Fire - still working our way through. I have to admit, sometimes I forget characters that only briefly appear in a movie so she may already have shown up and I didn't notice :)

ET and Spiderman are on our list. Oh and Despicable Me (more for my DH and I since the kids have seen it). Terminator is a maybe - I really don't know if my kids have seen it. Maybe an episode of the Simpsons so they have some context - they have never seen any episodes yet. Should we watch an early episode or one that is more recent? I haven't watched the Simpsons in many years. I think we have watched Shrek recently enough that we should be OK without a re-watch.

According to imdb, she's in Order of the Phoenix, Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows. But I could have sworn she was also in Prizoner of Azkabhan, but that may just be where we learn that she is the cousin of Sirius Black.

so you can tell I'm a potter fan ; )

By main characters, that includes Hagred and Dumbledore. Honestly, i'd watch at least the first 4 movies, as there are parts of Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley that will make more sense having seen it in the movie. Things like Platform 9 3/4, entering diagon alley etc. The Voldemort as we see him at US, first appears in Goblet of Fire (I think).

We started off with watching the first and the last movie - based on what I've read in reviews, blogs, and walk throughs, that seems to be enough to get a sense of who is who and who does what. That said, although Bellatrix showed up in the last movie, I think I missed a lot of who she is because we didn't watch Deathly Hallows, Part 1. Also, Hogsmeade didn't show up until a few movies into the series. The first one did give us Platform 9 3/4 (at last I understand what that's all about!), most of the main characters, Diagon Alley, and Hogwarts.

So far (4 movies in), I haven't noticed much of a reference to Butterbeer but maybe I missed it or it shows up another movie or two on? I do finally understand Every Flavor Beans and Chocolate Frogs now though :) And those gymnast schoolgirls in the Triwizard Spirit Rally (who showed up in #4).

I think there's a little from each movie in the 2 parks. Movie #3 (Prisoner of Azkaban) has the Knights Bus (outside Diagon Alley) as well as the intro of the dementors which are featured in the Hogwart's Express and Forbidden Journey attractions. The Goblet of Fire movie has the witches and wizards from the other schools who you will see performing and also the dragon scene from FJ. Many more little things from each movie but those are some of the key things I can remember seeing that DD didn't really understand.

Bellatrix is an important character from a good vs. evil standpoint. I don't recall if this was stressed in the movies, but in the books it was pretty important to know that Bellatrix was Lord Voldy's right hand who was very loyal to him. She also tortured Neville Longbottom's parents when Neville was very young. She drove them insane and made it necessary for them to be hospitalized for the rest of their lives - a secret that Neville told Harry who never betrayed his friend's confidence. Totally EVIL she was! :) And to see Neville stand up to her and Voldy at the end of the books/movies is a real tearjerker!

DH loved Bellatrix (not so much from the movies) but from the Gringott's bank ride. He kept asking questions about who played her, her character name etc. LOL the kids kept teasing him that he was in love with her!

Now, If I could just get DH to stop saying "Perhaps a little pain to help you remember".

Here's an update on where we are with this - we've watched Goblets of Fire and...................that's it!

We've fallen behind in our plan to conquer the HP and other Universal movies before our trip because DD discovered The Gilmore Girls (one of my all time favorite shows) and has been binge watching it on Netflix during all her tv/screen time. Going to have to have a marathon movie-palooza this weekend! We go out for Easter dinner with a big group of relatives and friends so no worries about cooking a big dinner for company or any of the usual holiday stuff. Well, DD will still want a basket but the Easter Bunny has that covered.
