Movie: Time Traveler's Wife (may contain spoilers)

I don't know what to think about this movie. Before we watched it I asked my wife if it was going to be a SciFi flick or a Chick flick. I think it was neither.

Do you think he kept returning to the Meadow because that is where he was shot?

I love love loved this movie and the book (the book was better).

To be honest, I'm not sure why he kept returning to the meadow? Maybe partially because of the shooting and partially because of his destiny with Claire?

I loved the movie. It was one of those that I should have watched twice to answer some questions but then I decided to just take it the way I saw it.

I would have thought the movie was okay if I hadn't read the book first. The book blew it away. Some books have so much detail and are so involving that you really can't do them justice with a movie. This is one of those cases, IMO.

The book is one of my all-time favorites. I really liked the movie also - though it left out so much. I loved the actors and just enjoyed it as a good romance.

I had hoped we would like it.

I think that in the book he mentions that he returns to the places most often that are more meaningful for him and have strong memories so the meadow would make sense as a place with a strong meaning or memory.

I agree, the book was better! Love that book.

I liked the book until the end. I don't care for sad ending and didn't realize it was going to be.

It was more clear in the book, that he was intrinsically tied to Clare. So he kept traveling to where ever she was. He kept returning to the meadow because that was her home.

Even in the movie she said, "She never had a choice about being with him & loving him." In the same way, neither did he. Except he could have waited till she was older to consummate their love.

As for him ending up naked, he couldn't take anything with him when he time traveled. Only he traveled, no material objects. It isn't like the Star Trek transporter, where a person and whatever he has with him materializes & dematerializes. Only Henry traveled.

Have you read the book? It explains your question very thoroughly. If you haven't read it, I recommend it. Its one of the best books I've ever read.

ITA, this is one of my most favorite books and although I liked the movie, the book was 1000 times better.

I loved the book and the movie. I think of the movie as it's own entity. If I try to compare it to the book, it leaves too much out. But on it's own, I think it's a wonderful movie.

I saw the movie, thought it was good, then read the book, and thought the book was FANTASTIC. It was probably the best book I ever read (and I read a LOT!), and then saw the movie again, and although I still liked the movie, I really thought the book was so much better. If you see the movie and are confused, I highly, highly recommend the book. The written word just captures the emotion of this story in the vivid detail that the movie just can't convey!

I agree that the book was incredible, one of my favorites. I have not yet seen the movie but in the book he says he goes to places and people who are the most meaningful in his life, or to times that had the greatest impact. He traveled to the scene of the car accident that took his mothers life many times and to the natural History Museum as well. These places were significant to him.

I do have the movie on my Netflix and hope to get to it soon. At first I was considering just not watching it at all, but i think I will.

I love both the book and the movie. I saw the movie before reading the book and I'm glad I did. I think if I would have read the book first, I would have been really confused.

I bought it on DVD and still haven't watched it...I'll wait until I need a good cry.
